Um, well, their reputation is a bit…. you get what you get. As in, you don’t know the photographer you are going to get UNTIL you get him. I think that’s how it goes. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are not so good.

I am going to a Pros showcase on 3/24 in NYC. Supposedly you can view their work and reserve your photographer/videographer/etc. Is there one in your city you can go to? I think its worth reviewing because their packages are amazing. They have received awards, and seem to have a good rep, though I dont know anyone who used them personally.

I have never heard anything good about their services. Personally I am not a big fan of the big “umbrella” companies. They just hire random freelancers and you are never really sure who or what you are going to get.

We got our photography and DJ through the Pros.  We attended a showcase, which I highly recommend as well. Our photographer wasn’t there, but we were able to look through some of her previous work that they had availible on computers there.  I could not have been more pleased with how our photographs turned out and she was wonderful to work with.  And the prices can’t be beat. But, to a certain extent, it’s a leap of faith, as the first time I talked with her was 3 days before the wedding, and the first time we met was the day of the wedding.

We booked The Pros for our photography and we’re super excited. We went to a showcase, spoke to 6 different photographers, and picked Willie, the guy we liked the best. His photos were gorgeous and we loved his personality. He has also been shooting weddings since 1986! He gave us his personal email in case we have questions for him before our wedding. We just decided to have a second photographer, so I am going to find out how the process works in that regard. I highly recommend attending a showcase!

I agree with others, I am not a fan of the big agency’s.  You’re lucky if the photographer you book even still works there by your wedding day.  And the problem with many photographers that have been doing this since the film days is that they never evolved to the more modern photojournalistic style or latest processing techniques that are now possible with digital.

I honestly wouldnt go with them unless you have met and had a session with your photographer. Same for the DJ. We originally booked our photog through The PRos. The first one they gave us looked like SHIT. I called them up and requested another photographer with better work. I saw her portfolio of a couple weddings and liked what I saw. Then we had our engagement pictures with her and got them back. Out of 300+ photos taken there were maybe 5 of them that I would actually frame and maybe 10 that I remotely liked. BIG disappointement! I couldnt risk that for our wedding pictures so I fired her and hired another photographer.

We kept our DJ services through them and that was a mistake. I had emailed and spoken with our DJ on the phone. I had given him a list of songs that I put together and he said it looked good. I told him if he didnt have any of the songs I could get them for him since they were not pop music. He said it was fine. On our wedding day he didnt play a single song from the list of about 50 songs I gave him and he forgot the music for all of our special dances. Luckily I had brought a CD with those songs on it! Then he performed a ridiculous break dance solo in the middle of our dance floor halfway through our reception. It was awful.

I will say it over and over – DO NOT HIRE THE PROS!!!

My only experience with them is from two different clients who hired us after canceling them because the photog they choose bailed on them. See the big agencies only pay their photos a very small percentage of what they are getting from you. If that photog books one of their own weddings at full price they are not going to stick around. The last client this happened three weeks before her wedding and she was scrambling for a photog. We had a cancellation due to the couple braking up so it worked out.
