Is there a chance that the “die in a fire” comment was facetious? I’m sure they don’t really wish for the candidates to perish.

@BeignetBride:  Either way, line totally crossed regardless of political ideology.

@mrssoontobeh:  I think a mod/admin/whomever should respond to you, but in the meantime, I’ll comment that the snark rule is aimed at actual members, not anyone in general. It’s about personal attacks happening within the threads, not hyperbolic rhetoric spewed at a third party completely uninvolved in Weddingbee.

Such comments are really unnecessary in general though, no matter your political persuasion. I especially detest such threats–despite being empty–aimed at the President, not because i like him (which I do) but because he’s the freaking PRESIDENT. Mitt Romney doesn’t deserve it either, but at least there the direspect is just towards a person and not towards our highest executive office as well.

I wouldn’t think so. But there’s definitely a difference in “I hate all the Brussels sprouts and wish they would burn to death” (or something equally as generic) and a member genuinely attacking and wishing harm on amother member in a personal manner. I think that’s the line.

shrugs. .. I dunno would you be so laid back about the entire thing if someone had said the same thing about Obama?

I mean I know tweets threatening Romeny are being turned over to homeland security. 😀

I haven’t commented on any of these posts. I just wonder why people can’t just let this go? I like the bee and all but this seems to be way too important to some of you. Ok, I know I will get flamed, but seriously. Stop clogging things up with this crap.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I think it’s all a bit silly. I like this site as much as the next girl, but it’s really nothing serious at all. IMO it’s reasonable for the mods of a lighthearted wedding site to take actions they think are necessary to prevent unnecessary drama. Now obviously those actions backfired in this case, but it’s pretty clear what they were trying to achieve.

@HisIrishPrincess:  I’m pretty laid back about either, because both are political, public figures who garner plenty of opinions (both for and against them) so its really not surprising that nasty, hateful things are said about both–or that gushing, glowing praise is bestowed on them. Political affiliation has nothing to do with it.

@fishbone:  The Internet is very serious business in case you weren’t aware.

My thoughts? If someone isn’t trolling/spamming the mods should just stay the f out of it. I’m not in fan of censorship at all. And I’m not a fan of people whining about other people being mean or about someone recognizing who they are when they are the ones who put their picture out in public. We’re all grown ups here, but from the way people act/we are policed you’d think we were in primary school.

But the bottom line is that WB is owned by a huge corp and has hundreds of thousands of members and they’re going to do whatever they want to do because they can and because there are always more brides joining. So realistically the best bet is to err on the side of sugary sweet or find a new place to hang out because being angry about the rules and continuing to try to fight them about the rules isn’t really going to accomplish anything. WB is not a democracy, it is a privately owned website.
