I hope to God sleeves come back. I can't wait for strapless to go out of fashion and I'm thorougly peeved I couldn't afford a lace dress with sleeves.
I'm not sure. Kate had no choice in the matter, because having sleeves is a requirement to get married at the Abbey.
But, some other churches require at least cap sleeves/covered shoulders as well. (Some Catholic churches do, all Mormon brides must have sleeves, etc.) Hopefully Kate's dress will give more options for brides who either want to or must wear sleeves on their wedding day.
I hope so! I agree with @sfchick: I would love to see another style besides strapless become popular. I just can't keep a stapless dress up (especially a heavy wedding dress) and I had so few option at my local wedding boutiques
I don't know, I thought they would come back after Ivanka's dress and that hasn't really happened.
ETA: I didn't want a strapless dress and I never ran into issues finding other options while dress shopping
I kind of wish I had looked at this option now. She really looked so...regal. Which seems redundant, but seriously. Regal!
No, Chatherine had to wear sleeves, and really her sleeves where like the anti sleeves. Is it really sleeves if they are totally see through?
Between Kate and Ivanka... they are probably on their way beack as we speak.
@LGenz: I def agree, I thought after Ivanka the days of strapless were numbered, but that hasn't been the case.
I'm hoping Kate signals more choices, instead of just nothing but strapless everywhere.
Both Ivanka and Kate choose sleeves for "religious" reasons. I don't really see a change. I don't see brides getting married during the summer in sleeves... Now, I do wish there were more available. I had one that did and it wasn't that hard but had I not already known the exact dress I wanted... I would have had a harder time. So, I wish they would make more sleeved options... but I don't think there's going to be a return of the sleeve.
I have to preface this with the fact that I went with a strapless dress... however, if you think about all the iconic wedding dresses in history, few (if any?) have been strapless.
Grace Kelly
Jackie O
Tricia Nixon
Princess Diana
Elizabeth Taylor (multiple dresses)
Carolyn Kennedy
Queen Margaret
even Katie Holmes when she married Tom Cruise
The only exceptions I can think of are really recent, Chelsea Clinton (I do think this one of a kind Vera Wang will be a classic) and maybe Jessica Simpson's princess dress when she married Nick, and maybe Sarah Jessica Parker's dress from the SATC wedding (Vivienne Westwood, I think?)
But it seems that most memorable wedding dresses have not been strapless. Wish I would've thought about this before I got married!
For me, I just wish there were more options. I don't think everyone should have sleeves or must have sleeves, but really, there are SO few out there, so those who want them have to add them or get a bolero. I just hope designers expand the options a bit more.
I know most of the people mentioned in this post did it for religious reasons, but strapless isn't for everyone. Too bad 95% of the dresses out there are strapless!
I hope so. My dress had cap sleeves and I loved them, strapless is a great look but beyond overdone at this point.
Hrmmm...other.
Maybe if Kate would have made a huge statement like Diana did, we would see sleeves everywhere.
So, I think strapless will continue to reign BUT because of this there will be many more options for brides who likes sleeves :D Everybody will be happy, peace in the bride world!!
I'm not a fan of them and they just aren't comfortable for June... I don't think they'd be all that comfortable to dance in either. I'm sure it'll come and go like all fashions do.
I really hope they make a comeback. I wore a strapless because it was the only reasonable and affordable option, but I wore a bolero. I don't think strapless should be done away with but just some variety offered! I mean really, with the strapless popularity the only room for variety is in the neckline and the skirt. When dresses with sleeves were popular there were just more options for everyone.
And personally I think that even an illusion or sheer sleeve gives a TOTALLY different look to a dress.
I didn't want a "modest" dress either, I think that what is offered as modest translates often into frumpy.
I did find this site with a lot of sleeved dresses, but some are rather dated. Not all though. There is hope!
(and the dresses are cheap!)
I think they are nice, little dated and old looking but still nice. :)
I will always love strapless. Its that subtly sexy that only a bride can pull off. :)
I'm very hopeful that sleeves will make a return. There are brides who look beautiful in strapless gowns, but for those of us who want sleeves or whose figures are better suited to a gown with sleeves, it would be nice to have more options available to us :)

What do you think? Every photographer I know is posting on fb begging for a return to sleeved dresses... do you think the tide will change and this will be the end of the glut of sleeveless dresses? Or at least there will be more options?
