We orginally planned on sending out STD’s in August and our Invites in December for our March wedding.
Then I started getting feedback from my Future Mother-In-Law asking why we are sending things out so early. I looked up on the internet and it also said that people usually send the invitations closer to 3-2 months before the wedding.
So I pushed the Save the dates to November and the Inviations to January to give the guest at least 2 months to RSVP
Now I am looking on the boards and feeling like I am waaay to late in sending my STD’s since I only have 4 months before my wedding.
Oh what to do, What to do.
When is the right time to wend invites and STD’s especially when you have the holiday season increasing mail around Christmas time.

I don’t think you’re *that* late in sending out Save-The-Date Cards. My wedding is a couple of weeks before yours and we sent ours out mid-October. I think as long as you get them out soon you’ll be fine.
We’ll probably be sending our invitations out in early-mid December.

Hmm, I can’t give too much advice about STD because we decided against sending them (almost all are in town and know already, out of towners know too). I was going to send them out around December, but then my mom was telling me that with Chrstimas, the invitation may get lost in Christmas shuffle. So we are sending them out as close to January 1st as possible, so that it won’t get lost in Christmas. Still plenty of time for everyone to RSVP too!

March 23rd too…hmm….I was thinking 6 weeks before, but maybe I need to send them in early Jan?
I sent Save-The-Date Cards in September, as most of my family is from out of state and I wanted to give plenty of lead time.

We sent STD’s mid-October. Invitations will be sent out in mid-December!
A hint on STD’S.. we did ours from Wedding Paper Divas and ordered the post card size…with no room for return labels, but cheaper postage. Well, we were asking some of our friends and family how they liked the save the date, and they said that they never got it. So we have NO clue who got their STD and who didn’t. So get normal sized save the dates or find a place to put return labels!

We are sending our invitations out on Monday. I know it’s a bit early, but my wedding planner recommended it given the holiday rush. They have an RSVP date of Feb 1. We sent our Save-The-Date Cards out a while ago – probably in Late May/early June

My venue recommended sending out the invitations in early January due to the holidays. She said the invitation could get lost if we sent in December as originally planned so our plan is to send them out right after New Years and our RSVP is beginning of February which gives them 3 weeks to respond. Most of our guests are local and are aware. The only ones coming from out of state is my dad and he obviously already is aware of the date.

We sent our STD’s out mid September. I plan on sending our invitations out 2nd week in January. Our wedding is March 2. I didn’t want our invitation to get bundled up in all the holiday correspondence. So I figured letting the holidays pass was the best route for us.

We sent our Save the Dates this month and will be sending out our invitations mid-late January. So we’re on the same schedule =)
