@aquawater: Haha, that's okay! Just hoping to find a few more out there besides me :) Are you East or West River?
@kelsgurl: I'm East River, SF area. What about you? I'm really surprised that there aren't more SD bees; Weddingbee really seems so down to earth!
@aquawater: SF area too! And yes, I'm really surprised there aren't more Great Plains brides on here. Although, I just stumbled upon it in a random wedding inspiration google search one day. But I've been hooked ever since!
One of my friends is getting married, and so I was surfing the web trying to help her and that is how I found Weddingbee. I love the blgs and have just started venturing into the baords (as evidenced by the post count, haha). You're really active on WB, and I thought that was so cool when I saw this post. Yay SD!
I was a Sodak bride, originally from SF, wedding west of Aberdeen. This is an awesome place for ideas :)
The other day I was thinking "How come all the blogging bees seem to be from the same places - Texas, Cali, Pennsyvania, NYC? How come there are never any bees from, like, South Dakota???" And here you guys are! One of y'all should apply and represent.
I'm from NC, never been to SD. But I'd love to hear about a wedding there!
With all this crazy weather this weekend, I am so glad that my guy wants a non-winter wedding. While the snow may be beautiful, it's way too cold! Also, none of our families would be able to make it if something like this blizzard happens. Example, I'm stuck in Michigan with a cancelled flight!
My parents have gotten over 10 inches in under 48 hours in Sioux Falls...I'm worried that we won't see me them this year for Christmas :(
I know, what a mess this blizzard has been! I love the look of winter weddings, but I know it would never work if we tried to have one. Too many logistics to worry about, and you simply can't predict what Mother Nature will do here on the tundra!
I know and we got married last August and as much as I wanted an outdoor ceremony I knew the weather was going to be so unpredictable that it would have been so stressful. We ended up have 80 degree weather with about 90% humidity, thank goodness for air conditioning
@Ireland: While I'm technically an ND bride, I grew up in IA right by SuFu and I'm wondering about making it down there tomorrow as well. Any word on when things are supposed to clear up or at least stop enough for decent travel?
I don't know much about going from ND to SD but I do know that it supposed to clear up by the end of the week south SD through Nebraska....I think though, based on normal SD weather, there's a week where they get dumped on and then they're fine for another week or two until the next dumpage but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you
@NDBee: I'm pretty sure I-29 is mostly cleared now. It's the residential roads that are still a bit of a mess. You're going to want to check the wind, though, since blowing snow reduces visibility, which is almost more dangerous than the snowfall itself. Where in ND will you be coming from?
@kelsgurl: From Fargo, I made the short trip from Grand Forks to Fargo yesterday. I'll probably head out in an hour or so. The road conditions look much better after being updated overnight, but I'll definitely check on the wind. Thanks SD Bees!
Safe and sound! The roads were all pretty good, but holy pete did they get a TON of snow down here! I never thought that ND would be less snowy than IA, but at least it's 'warmer' down here..haha. All you bees travel safe for the holidays as well :-)
I'm glad you made it down here safely!!
Haha, I was quite surprised by the size of the drifts when I got home. That's alot of snow! Kind of crazy how there was so much drifting that the open areas are low on snow, and we just have huge drifts.
@Miss Bicycles: Welcome!
There's a bridal show in Brookings this weekend; anyone going?
Oooh, fun! Did you go to the bridal show @kelsgurl?
Are any of you bloggers?
I did go to the bridal show and it was a lot of fun, although it was a smaller show than I expected. But I won a free massage, so I can't complain!

Seriously! What's the deal?! Any current SD bees? Make some noise so I know I'm not alone! :)
