ARG! So I am now 33 days away from W-day. We got engaged 18 months ago and I began planning everything 17 months ago. Why did I go into high gear and go insane so early on? So my final month could be smooth sailing and putting out small fires.
33 days away and I have two giant wildfires I need to deal with.
First one is my flowers. As I mentioned in another thread, they’re a disaster. I booked this lady for silk flowers in FEBRUARY. I finally got them 2 weeks ago and they were a mess. Ripped, broken, falling apart, glue trails everywhere. For the price I paid, they needed to be ready to go out of the box and what I received left me, a very even tempered and very NON emotional person CRYING with frustration.
I am still waiting for my money back. I shipped the box back to her that same day and the woman said she put the check in the mail. I suspect I will have to fight for my money back, which will be an issue as my deposit was in February and Paypal will undoubtably ask why I am complaining NOW.
Secondly is my hotel. Someone was dyslexic on the contract and instead of it giving us the deadline for the room block of the 21st as discussed, it is the 12th. Fine, we signed it, that’s on us for not seeing that. I was working with someone to try to extend it and she said to call back yesterday and speak with her for a resolution/extension. I called back. No answer. I kept calling. No answer. Finally I call and speak to someone else in that department and I learn she’s out until next Monday, AFTER OUR DEADLINE and there are no notes about anything on file.
The hotel’s booking website is down and we’re close to the minimum booking amount but not there and I haven’t been able to check my numbers on my own since Thursday, with this Thursday being our deadline to either be good or owe $1800 in unbooked room fees (which we’d absolutely hit if we had an extension, so it isn’t like we overestimated). I spoke with 5 people and got 5 different replies. One person, upon being asked to confirm if my mother’s extension to days outside the block would apply said “They should. I don’t know. We won’t know until the day of, I have no idea.” Seriously? She booked them after being told they would apply and ONLY because of that.
So I either have 31 rooms, 34, 44, 38 or according to one person my future MIL tried to work with, we’re booked completely, no rooms are left and our block is full, as is the hotel.
I am just so beyond frustrated. I have dealt with gross incompetency before, but never at this level. At least normally when people are incompetent, they’ll give you the same wrong answer. Here, everyone seems to be giving me a different answer. Not to mention they just do NOT care. I get that they’re a big company and they don’t need my business to get by, but theres’ a fine line between not needing a customer and being flat out caustic and useless to them. Once this wedding is done, I fully intend to write a detailed letter to their corporate office sharing this nightmarish experience.
