So, someone gave us a really nice but older table. it's got a glass top and two brown legs with a gold bar connecting them. I like the table but not the gold and brown so I was thinking about painting them black. When I mentioned this to my husband he said no. I've been trying to negociate but to no avail. Any advice?

Why does he not want to paint it?

@tksjewelry:  He says the table is fine the way it is and why do we have to change it.... He ususally isn't stubborn about things so I can't figure out why this is what he's deciding to be a booger about

IMO, gold furniture takes me back to the 80's *shutters*.  I would imagine it would look better with silver and black.  Have you thought about photoshopping a pic of it and making it the colors you would like it and show him that?

@kyrstien:  Sounds to me that he's just thinking about the possible "work" he'll have to do.

I'd ask him if it's because of that and then suggest that you'll do it & then do it one day when he's at work or out for the day. lol

I would just do it! Guys have a hard time picturing what things will look like and you might have a better eye for it. Once he sees it, I'm sure he'll like it!

Check out the blog centsational girl. She has lots of projects where she refinished thrift store furniture and makes it beautiful.

Thanks ladies! I'll keep you updated...we just bought new chairs to go with it and they're black so now I have no choice but to paint the table to match right? :)

@amnystik:  That was my first thought too.  My guy would be fine with it if he knew *I* was doing the work and not him.
