- Wedding: October 2013
This is just for fun and I hope it makes you smile. Share your own, if you’d like! 🙂
“A wedding marks the first day of the rest of your life. You have been dead until now. Were you aware of that? You’re dead right now.” -Candice Bergen: Bride Wars
As my date grows nearer, I’m reflecting on all that I’ve learned as a bride-to-be from engagement, through the planning process to now.
Wedding planning is a joyous time high impact shit storm.
I’ve learned that everyone you know and love gets…weird.
I’ve discovered that everyone I’ve ever known is now a Jewish vegan gluten intollerant vegetarian with a peanut allergy.
I’ve learned that people are totally into asking you what you’ve spent on your event(s) and then judge you, followed up by their unwanted opinion on how to spend your money.
I’ve discovered that the following:
Number of guests attending _______
is something that makes the SAT test pale in comparison to its difficulty. The jewel of the bunch was the one that arrived with no names and next to NUMBER of guests attending was….a check mark.
I’ve learned the hard way that you can’t always get what you want. My finest, most tasteful example being blue velvet cake = blue poop.
I’ve come to know, understand and lovingly accept the legends of “the in-laws” and it’s truthfulness.
“Bridal sizing” sucks.
If for whatever reason, an invitee was invited alone, they will call you. They will ask you why. And then they’ll complain that their seven children and their cousins were not included on the invitation.
In the end, I’m sure this will all be worth it. I get the honor of marrying my best friend and having a wonderful celebration in the most unique venue I can imagine and then we’re off on our two week honeymoon to relax and soak it all in.
…it would be funny to fly into the sunset knowing the side effects of the blue cake, though…
I hope you enjoyed this. Just a little rant in a funny way now that everything is coming to a close and I hope to make you fellow bees laugh as I’m sure you can all relate to every piece of this. 😉
