I think we need our own place to post for those of us that are trying...
I can't really figure out how a poll would work, so please make suggestions. We could start a new thread every month...but that wouldn't get as extensive results. Or we can just keep a running tally through comments. What do you think?
So I am currently in Cycle 5. I guess calling it Month 5 would be easier, but it's technically longer than that. My cycles have been: 31, 38, 34, and 30 days. I was on BC for 11 years pre-TTC and stopped on August 22nd.
I'm not charting and still do not plan to, but I did buy the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor which I will start using this month.
We are on our 5th cycle with fertility medications. My cycles have been running between 35-40 days. Before that we weren't trying but we also weren't preventing for almost 3 years. I used an OPK this month and got my positive yesterday! So now we are in the TWW...
Currently in the TWW of cycle 5. Not overly sunshiney and rainbowy of that other post. I know a lot of people have a longer wait than I will/do but those one month-ers are a little annoying.
@Miss Sapphire: yeah - I'm shocked by the results of that poll right now! I always tell people 'it ain't that easy'. (at least for most people) If the 2-4 mo has the most I could believe it but I know WAY too many people who TTC'd for 6 mo to a year or longer and many folks using fertility meds. Interestingly the TTC time frame can be vastly different for different pregnancies as well. My bro connected on the 2 mo with kid 1 and it took much longer for kid 2.
Best of luck to you all in 2011!
I'm on cycle #11. Went off bcp in Feb and started charting right away.
My ovulation date moved further out every month from day 14 out into the 20s. By Oct I didn't O until day 25, and my GP blew me off about it, so I decided to see a naturopath/acupuncturist. So I'm on my 3rd month working with her to get my cycle back into a more optimal pattern.
I started on new chinese herbs this month, and I'm really optimistic that they will help. Just got a first postive opk today, which is day 15 (instead of 19 or 20) - hooray for progress! :)
Good juju to all of us in 2011!
I went off of depo-provera (missed my shot) at the end of July, I have only had one very light period at the beginning of December, so hoping we can get things rolling soon. I might invest in an ovacue monitor in the next few months if things don't start happening faster.
We are on month 4 of TTC and I am using the clear blue easy ovulation sticks....no smiley face yet so hopefully in the next few days we will be ready to try again....good luck everyone!!
I am 35 in a few weeks and this will be month 4 of trying. I am using clear blue easy OPK so we will see what this month brings!
@ms sweets: I did not get a smiley face until later in my cycle than I thought should happen. Just realized this month that we should be trying the day of and for 36 hours afterward, LOL!
11 calendar months, but about 6 cycles (due to long or chemically altered cycles!) I have a good feeling about this coming month though!
@firegirl: that's good to know because the directions say to start using them days before Day 14 so I did and I had a feeling I wouldn't get a smiley face for later in the cycle, I was wondering if I was doing it correctly, thanks :)
this is my third cycle although trying not to take things too seriously. sort of somewhere between TTC and NTNT but not really admitting it. i went off BCPs in october. i use the clearblue OPKs too but never got a positive for oct/nov. did get my first smiley last month, but nothing. just got my 2nd smiley on monday, so now we wait. if it doesn't happen, it will sad because i'll have to take the next two months off as my sister is getting married in october. i'll be 32 next week so i'm a little stressed about it all but trying not to be.
what is TWW? two week wait?
In the 2WW of our 10 mth (10th cycle) and first round of Clomid. I have 30 day cycles, Endometriosis, 1 ovary and fallopian tube and found out in November after months of testing, I do not ovulate at all. Good luck everyone! It isn't as easy for some; health issues or not. And for those that it does take awhile, it can be a long, emotional, heartbreaking process. I have a friend with my same time frame but no health issues. Hubs and I are trying to not get our hopes up too much right now bc we have had some *signs* but we are eager for our little miracle, so its hard!
We're on our 2nd cycle of TTC. I have 50ish day cycles...so it's been a total of 3 months.
We are in what I guess is the first cycle of actively trying?
I so hope we're lucky enough to conceive within the first 6 months or even a year! We're both thinking we will have complications with conceiving.
When you ladies calculate your day of ovulation with cycle length do you use a average cycle length or calculate the the length of your last cycle to figure out next cycles fertile days?
If that made any sense....
@regberadaisy: I actually chart mine on Fertility Friend and an app on my phone. When I first started I put in the last 2-3 months of my cycle start dates and it will give you an average of your cycle, your projected ovulation date and fertile days. I always used OPK and you start those roughly around day 11 of your cycle. It was always pretty accurate for me. I'd always get a positive, just never had enough of the hormone to fully ovulate. This month, I got a positive about 4 days prior to the projected date they thought. I think OPKs are so helpful.
We are in our 5th cycle of TTC. I am temping and using the CBE fertility monitor. We go into see the MD this month because I have a history of PCOS. I hope we get our baby soon.
Not TTC, but wanted to pop in and say good luck ladies!
We just started month 7 of trying- in some ways I can't believe that it has been that long, and in other ways it feels like forever.
I've been charting since I went off the pill in June, use Fertility Friend, and have read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. The past 2 months I've been using Clear Blue Easy OPK's- I really feel that they have helped with our timing, I've been late the past two months (and have never been a day late in my life before), but haven't gotten anything to stick yet.
I think the worst part is feeling like I disappoint my husband each time I tell him my period has started and we are on to the next month (this is all in my head of course, he could not be more supportive).
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much on this either, out of nowhere my SIL had a dream that we were going to have a baby girl on Oct. 9- I really hope her dream comes true!
@MissGreen: Totally not trying to threadjack here, but I wanted to say best wishes. I too only have 1 fallopian tube and 1 and a quarter ovaries. Luckily I was able to get pregnant.
Best wishes to all you ladies here. The wait is very difficult.
This is my first post about TTC, I've been soo nervous to say it outloud because we haven't told anyone.
We are on Cycle 2, I'm 7 DPO (29 day cycle) and I had some light spotting last night and this morning, I can only hope it's implantation!
@regberadaisy: I count back 14 from multiple cycle dates (like 34 and 30) so it's like a "window" of probable O. But I haven't been successful yet so not sure if that the right advice! Hopefully the OPKs will help.
It is nice to see so many of us out here...let's keep this up!
I agree that timing is the hardest part. For the first couple of months I think we totally missed the right time because I had no idea how long my cycles were.
I have another question that's been on my mind too. I've read that it's helpful when both partners climax at the same-"ish" time. But I never do during actual BD time. Anyone have more info on this? Or any other advice in general for those of you that have already seen drs?
We are in kind of a holding pattern right now. We did about 8 months of NTNT and then did 3 cycles of meds. We're now waiting to see a specialist to figure out next steps. So, all in all, about a year!
We just finished up our 5th cycle of TTC- I went off BC last May, and we were NTNT... I am expecting AF today, so we will see how this month pans out...
Next month I will use the Ovulation predictor tests to make sure were are trying at the right times.... I track my periods and fertile days using the iperiod app on my ipod.
Good luck to all of the other ladies out there.... I never thought this would be such a frustrating experience- especially since everyone else got pregnant by accident!
We start TTC in March -- 3 cycles of trying, then a 3 cycle hiatus, started trying again in September and now I'm on cycle 4. It seems minor compared to some women's struggles, but feels like an eternity to me, especially when I think that if we'd gotten pregnant the first time we would have had a baby in December. I'm turning 33 in February and hoping that I"ll have a baby before 34. Oh well, hopefully 2011 will bring us all luck.
Got pregnant last June, miscarried, found out I had about 15 uterine fibroids. Had major stomach surgery (myomectomy) 9 weeks ago today to remove them. He had to take out a fallopian tube as well (fibroid was entangled with it), so I'm counting on my left fallopian tube to do the trick. We are allowed to start ttc again in just a few weeks. Can't wait! Good luck, ladies!!! :)
@SecretName: So good to see somebody who was successful with one fallopian tube. Helps keep my positive! By the way, I can't wait until you "come out" and tell us who you are!! :)
We are in cycle 1 of TTC...just went off birth control pills after being on them for about 6 years. I have never had a regular cycle and have only had a period naturally about 2-3 times my whole life so if nothing happens in 6 months, we will probably try Clomid to help me ovulate. I started charting this week so we'll see what happens =)
We're on our 2nd cycle of TTC, we're total newbies! Last month we weren't really doing much except for trying when I was fertile (or when I thought I was anyway). The month prior we just started NTNT. This month, I plan to use OPKs and starting to chart basal temp. I'm turning 34 this year - there's no time to waste!
All the luck to my fellow TTCers!
@Mrs Green Grass: we're also on our 5th cycle of TTC, but it's been longer in months. My first cycle was 84 days when I came off the pill (I had been on it for 12 years). Then each cycle after that has been in the 30s. So, we've technically been trying since June to no avail
I just signed up for a 10 mile run in May to try to take my mind off of it. It seems like everywhere I turn, someone new is pregnant!
EDIT: I just wanted to say thanks for starting this thread! The other one made me a little sad too, like we were the only ones that didn't get pregnant in month one! Good luck to all of you!
I am on my 5th month in my tww... really hoping this was the month because DH is getting knee surgery next Wednesday.. so that might put him out of commission for a while :( so stressful!
If this isn’t the month I am going to stop procrastinating and go buy an ovulation kit & some pre-seed.
Hey ladies! We must have gotten some baby dust over in our house since I got a positive test! Here's to a happy and healthy pregnancy and I'll be thinking about you while I take some time off from this board until I hear the heart beat! Good luck to everyone!!
This is our 8th cycle of TTC. We got pregnant our 2nd try and miscarried. I've been using OPKs until this month when I needed a break from peeing on sticks. I was getting too wound up and thinking about it all.the.freaking.time. So this month we are just letting it ride! My cycles are pretty regular so we have a pretty good idea of when we should be actively working it, but we're just trying to let it go. It's actually helping me to not be looking at the sticks and getting anxious about when the damn smiley face will show up and then eagerly counting days until I can pee on the other sticks to see if it worked! I actually packed up all the tests (both OPK and Pregnancy) and gave them to my husband with instructions to give them back on a certain date if my period hasn't started.
I'm surprisingly calm about it all.
Good luck to everyone on this journey. It's always nice to know that none of us are in this alone and it's not always easy!
We got PG in our 3rd cycle of TTC and had an early miscarriage at 5 weeks 5 days
I'm devastated that we'll never have that first one but I know in my heart that it wasn't healthy enough.
We got the go ahead to TTC again after I get my next period, which should be next week!
I'm not sure how to count it - either as our 4th or 5th cycle. Fingers crossed that we'll catch it in the first one or two tries!
Good luck to you all!
Congrats to you, Miss Saphire!
We're on cycle #8. I've had some pretty spastic periods as well as some weird pain, so my doctor is going to do an HSG on Wednesday. Here's hoping that 2011 is our year!
@Miss Sapphire: Congrats! Hopefully we'll all join you soon!
I've been using the Clearblue Easy Monitor for 11 days now and I really like it! It's super easy and I'm worrying less about whether each day is the right time to try. Not there yet this month... DH calls it my video game. He says "Did you play your video game this morning? Did you win?" I said that we need a new euphemism for "winning" because otherwise I lose almost every day!
Halfway through TWW. Trying really hard to distract myself.
