My friend and I went through the P'Nina Tornai website, and while some of them were stunning--some of the others....woof. Here are some of our favorites. And the award for tackiest (yes, I said it! These gowns are hysterical!) dress goes to:
Wow...wow....just...wow. I think I can see a nipple in the first one. Poor grandma...
And what's the last one? It looks like someone ripped up some 70's carpet and made it into a bottom of a dress.
I am actually selling a crap ton of dresses like that silver one for prom this year, which is unusually. Most years us midwestern girls are very behind the times and don't buy anything new or trendy which drives me crazy since I want to sell new amazing things. Why oh why does this have to be the one trend to catch on!?!?
In a weird way, I love the black&white one. If I had the money, I'd buy it, hide it in the closet, try it on every once in awhile and squee at myself in the mirror. It'd be my tacky little guilty secret dress.
Those are terrible! I would vote the tackiest/ worst is #1. It's just awkward. Followed by the Fur one, then the two sheer corset ones, then the silver robot, and lastly the black & white one.
ha, because when i think of my wedding gown, the first thing i think is SEE THROUGH BODICE!
What is that woman thinking to think these dresses are worth what she thinks of herself? All of the dresses above say to me "over reaching fashion student designs"
@Gingersnap: hahaha--such a terrible wedding gown, but in it's own way it's kind of awesome. It looks like an opera costume.
@MissHoneyBun: I was thinking more of a diva Cruella Deville, but yea I definitely see some opera in there.
The model wearing the short one from syttd is April from an old cycle of americas next top model! haha... anyway, i think the last two are the most tacky. although, they are all pretty ugly!
Is it just me, or is the top dress just not flattering at all? It makes the model look chunky- and I know she's not!
@symphony: A lot of them do that! It's the sheer bodice with a low-waist--really unflattering.
They're all ridiculous in their own right, but I must agree with some PP's that the black and white number is a pretty awesome costume-type piece. Carmen (the opera, not Electra) meets Carmen Miranda meets Cruella DeVille. I'd never go for something like it but I'm kinda digging it.
I loathe the short see thru option. Can't stand it. I'm not at all a 'traditional' bride but even I think this is pushing the envelope on appropriate for a wedding. I thought the girl on SYTTD looked kinda silly in it too.
Thanks for the entertainment :)
I sincerely apologize if there are any brides on here who might have picked any of these dresses. But honestly, these are really awful. Every time they have a Pnina bride on SYTTD I just shake my head. I can't see spending more than I would normally spend on a car on something so over the top tacky. One thing I really dont' get is the see through thing-that is not cute, in the least.
I over look the fact that SOME of her dresses are nice, but overall she designs horrible costume like gowns. I swear if you tell someone a piece of crap is worth a LOT of money ppl will want it, when really in the end its just a piece of crap!
Did anyone see the episode of SSTYD where the bride wore a P'Nina and had to have it altered because the bottice was too long and as a result the see through part was showing her lady parts? EEEEEEK
@MissHoneyBun: I know! I also thought the dress was kinda inappropriate because the bride was about 60 years old, the dress was pink and see through and ummm welll just too much!
@CupCakeMeg: omg LOL!!!!
Seriously! What is WRONG with that Pnina?! Some of her dresses are just utterly gorgeous, classy, stunning couture pieces, yet others are absolute MONSTROCITIES like these!! I don't see how one person could have come up with it all -- it's like she's got a split personality!
yuck! Say yes to the dress always has this designer but I really don't know who would wear these! Pretty sure she has some sort of advertising deal with them!
Yup. 3,4 and 5 have all been on SYTTD and the brides all looked horrifc. I'm not sure why people can't tell the difference between a wedding and a broadway show. So unbelieveably trashtastic.
Yikes, #1 makes the model look like a man! Who wants to look like a drag queen on their wedding day?!
I remember the bride who tried on #5. At least she had the sense to think the consultant was crazy for having her try it on.
Is it bad that I kind of like the black one? Not as a wedding gown, but just ... as a pretty dress?
... not that I ever wear gowns.
the black and white one is a HOOT.
Man, you'd need some chutzpah for that one.
Wait, wait, - I love the black and white gown!!! Lol - I'm a tackless wonder!!!! :P
@luckyprincess: I love the b&w one too! It totally looks like an opera costume.
OH thank God someone else does, lol! Perfect for opera!
Lol - Cruella - exactly!! So dramatic!
