You might try searching for weddings in the restaurant rather than the hotel itself---it's a beautiful space so I have to imagine there have been some, but they might be listed as that instead. In SF I think the restaurant is called XYZ.
I think it's a great idea, I'm sure it'd be really beautiful, hope it works out! Plus, staying there/getting ready in one of their rooms would be super convenient :) Oh, and I can attest to the comfort of the W "Heavenly" Bed, I bought one for myself!
oakster- that's a good idea to search the restaurant instead of the hotel.
dreamingtree- i have stayed in the W hotel in NYC and the bed was wonderful!

I couldn't find any weddings at the W hotel, but if you're looking for a modern space in San Fran check out Mrs. Peeptoe's wedding.
I don't know what the price range is for this hotel, but you could request a package! Their wedding was held at Hotel Vitale.

It says they can seat up to 250! I believe they have a bunch of rooms to choose from :)
The amalfi coast room 1 & 2 combined seats 160 even... haha I'll stop pushing the hotel though! lol

herecomestheguide.com is really helpful in venue-searching. A lot of art galleries in San Francisco can accomodate weddings and tend to be cheaper than hotels.

I am actually having my wedding at the W in DC this Saturday. I too was looking for a modern space and the W fit the bill. It can be pricey but they will work with you and your budget.
so I got info about the hotel. $125-145 per person for food and that includes stuff like a suite, tables, dance floor etc. Ceremony is extra $ added and even the projector. Might be too much for our budget since our guest list has 175 people. They said they're willing to work with people's budget but hmmmm, I don't know. I'm gonna check out the Silicon Valley W hotel, it might be cheaper. We fell in love with the hotel because of it's ambiance and lighting. I'm kinda saddened coz this might not work out even with the discount.
We're also gonna check out Chabot Space Center in Oakland and continue looking for venues. We have less than a year to plan all these and we're in the early stage.
@CLER, we just vetted most of the Oakland venues last month, so feel free to message me if you want info about any of them---Chabot is definitely gorgeous, though it was too expensive for our (really low-budget!) wedding. I have a list of just about everything in Oakland and Berkeley, though.
It might be hotel-specific, but my wedding coordinator at the W Hotel in Seattle was awesome about working with our budget. She probably put together 4 different proposals for us before we were able to come to an agreement that would work for our budget. If you really adore the W, I would take your budget to your sales person and see what they can work out for you. Good luck! I, like you, fell completely in love with the ambiance and can't wait to have my wedding there!
CLER: I've done boudoir photography at the W in San Francisco and LOVE IT ! I have also stayed at other W's and found them to be VERY consistent with service and luxury!
I think your wedding date may be listed wrong too - it says 2009 by your name instead of 2010.

Anyone ever heard of weddings happening in the W hotel? Or have looked in that place? Either in SF or Silicon Valley? I tried searching and searching, but I don't see much pictures or information. We're gonna contact them soon and see if our budget can fit that place. I just love the ambiance, very modern and that's what we want for our wedding. I know the only way we might be able to afford this is through an employee discount, since we have a family member who works there. I just don't know if with the discount and all, if we can really afford it.
