Not a bad idea -- but eventually, the truth comes out, right? :(
Only on some things! What they don't know can't hurt them I guess. Like I said, obviously some things you can't avoid (DJ Packages, photographers etc), but if you play it wisely it can work to your advantage.
I won't lie about it. It just doesn't feel right to me. I would rather pay a bit extra and have them pay the extra attention to them then get a bit of a break and have them look like birthday cupcakes. I've seen somebody do the exact same thing and they ended up with rainbow sprinkles on 150 cupcakes. Nice!
I think it is an interesting idea but I have to agree wiht @KateMW but maybe that is because I am a *bit* of a control freak...especially when it comes to my "W word" ;)

Just a quick head's up. I read something awhile back that future brides should avoid using the word "wedding" when booking and planning things with people/retailers. Obviously some things you can't get around. However, instead of saying "I'm getting married" or "This is for a wedding", you can say "I'm planning a really big even and need this". I know for my cupcakes I'm getting them at regular price because I didn't even touch on the word.
Just a quick tip to keep in mind when planning!
