For the past little while now SO (well, FI now) and I have known that our engagement was coming, and that he had the ring ordered and on its way. We just got back from a 2-week trip to my hometown so that he could meet my extended family, and I met some of his. I thought he was going to ask me while we were on vacation (and to be honest, was quite bummed when he didn’t), but he had other plans up his sleeve, and I am thrilled about it!
He waited until we got back home and gave me an intimate, heartfelt proposal (nothing fancy- there’s a more elaborate one coming; I’ll explain.) The second surprise was that the ring was not at all what I had planned- I know he has a diamond one on its way, but FI ran into some delays getting it, and so instead of waiting to propose (he himself couldn’t wait any longer to do it- so sweet!), he popped the question with a Claddagh (which is something I have always hinted that I had wanted- now I have one that I proudly wear as my e-ring until the diamond one finishes shipping! Couldn’t have worked out any more perfectly!! <3). Still in the process of letting people know, and my heart’s just fluttering nonstop…so excited!

Whoops- in all the excitement I forgot to post the ring (it’s only simple- but that is just perfect for me). Sorry about the quality; Took the picture with my old Blackberry, and my nails weren’t done so I cropped the picture so you can’t see them lol. (Getting a mani tonight!)

Congrats! That’s so sweet that he couldn’t wait any longer. I love the Claddagh.

@aithinne: @bleusteel: Thanks! I love the symbolism behind them; The love, loyalty and friendship are the three things that have kept us going as a couple, and the fact that I have Irish heritage makes the Claddagh symbolism even more cherished <3

I love your claddagh. It’s one of the most dainty & feminine ones I’ve seen. Plus, the shape of it looks like it would be able to sit relatively flush with a band after it’s flipped on the wedding day (if you choose to go that route), which is hard to find in a claddagh!
Congrats again, adorable story 🙂
