Hello lovely bees!
Well, Mr. Bunny Bells and I are officially tying the knot! I've been out of town for the holidays, so this update is woefully late, but I'm so excited to share my news with the hive!
And the story goes....
On the evening of 12/22, my FI and I had made special arrangements to celebrate our Christmas together. Long story, but this year we were going to be with our respective families for the holidays, as my best friend had her wedding on New Year's Eve and my FI had to use his only time off to attend with me. I was feeling a little apprehensive about spending Christmas apart (This is our 5th Christmas as a duo), and thought it might be special to rent a hotel room downtown so we could exchange gifts, go to dinner, see all the Christmas lights, etc. We had both been SO excited for our mini getaway, that I was focused only on checking in at the hotel when FI picked me up from work. My radar didn't even blip when he started taking a back route to get downtown, explaining that if we drove down a certain hill, we would get to see all of the lights. My heart started beating a little faster when he turned off to a small park with a vantage point of downtown. This was the site of a very special moment for us when I came to visit him for the first time shortly after we began dating. He walked me to the ledge, and got really shaky and nervous all of a sudden! He began telling me how lucky we were to have found eachother, and how patient I've been, and how he couldn't wait one more day for us to spend our lives together.... He got down on one knee and proposed with my great-grandmother's heirloom sapphire and diamond ring. I burst into tears and couldn't stop saying "No you're not? You're not joking?" That of course was followed by a delighted "Of Course!"
When we reached the hotel, we had been upgraded to a corner suite overlooking downtown, received a complimentary bottle of champagne, and were spoiled rotten the remainder of the evening. It was such a spectacularly special moment for the two of us, and it was so wonderful to be able to tell my folks in person the very next day. My only complaint is that following our engagement night we were seperated for a week and a half! But not to worry, we have the rest of our lives...
