I got my dress there, but I called them and they had the sample that I wanted so I never dealt with them in person. They were super great to work with on the phone and gave me a truely awesome price for the dress. My mom lives in Eden Prairie, so it was easy to get to for her. When my mom went there to pick it up, they again, were super helpful and wonderful. I have spoken online to a ton of women that bought their dresses there and if you check CL it seems like almost all the dresses for sale came from there.
I'm not sure really what the have as far as sizes but they do have just about everything. My sister and I went there to check out bridesmaids dresses for her wedding and we were out within 10 minutes. It's so incredibly busy that you hardly get any attention, you feel so pressured and rushed. We ended up going to Napier Bridal in West St Paul, however they have now closed their doors :(
@cardus: I got a bridesmaid dress there and went with my friend who got her wedding dress there as well. It is a busy place, but each time I went, we had good attention from the consultant during our scheduled time.
I was actually suprised by the amount of dresses- I thought they'd have more. I think they have the ability to order quite a few, but don't always have samples in stock of each dress. I think they're pretty good about respecting your wishes on budget, but you and your guests can go through and pull dresses too, so you'd want to make sure to let them know your budget as well.
Sizes were mostly around a Bridal 10, with some on either side. I've heard that you can get a discount if you buy the same day as your first visit, so maybe try on some shapes/designers at a different shop so you have a very good idea of what you'd like (or just be prepared to walk away from that offer if you know you aren't 100% sure!).
One final note- they don't do in-house alterations. You'll have to find your own seamstress to help make any changes, but usually it saves money in the long run. And they do carry a ton of bridesmaid dresses!
I wasn't thrilled with my in-shop experience there. They were sort of pushy and rushed me in and out of dresses. I ended up buying my dress from another place that was kinder to me in person and had a very "this is a huge commitment, take yoru time to decide" stance.
I got a bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding there about 5 years ago and that experience was just fine, but then I went there to check out dresses for my own wedding 3 years ago and was less than enthused. Lack of dresses, didn't feel like they really cared, and then they also didn't really seem to understand what I was looking for and were bringing me things that were waaaay off mark. I live in Rochester and ended up getting my dress at Mestad's which had a phenomenal dress selection that I could look through myself, plus were super friendly. I believe there is also a Mestads in the cities and i would definitely give it a look. They had a decent selection of upper size ranges (I'm a street 14).
I went to the Wedding Shoppe twice (my dress/BM dresses). Wasn't thrilled with the service or selection, especially considering the reputation WS has in the Twin Cities.
I had much more success at Che Bella (just a bit further East down Grand Ave) and Posh boutique (I went to the Mpls location) -- also Raffine in Stillwater! These three were just great, and WS really paled in comparison for me.
Good luck! =)

i'm not super familiar with the metro just yet, only having visited three times, each for a weekend, and spending most of my time with FI either in guitar shops, used record stores, and public parks. i've been browsing gown designers online and it seems like no matter who the designer is, the wedding shoppe has them. i was wondering about the general experience...i mean, a huge place is good in that everything is there, you don't have to go to multiple places, but can be bad in other areas. was it hard to get an appointment? are the consultants helpful or too busy? do they tend to brush you aside if your budget is low (i have a hard budget of $800, $1K with alterations, but will tell them $500 to allow myself some wiggle room)? what sample sizes do they usually have? (i'm currently a street size 12 or 14 depending, hoping to be down to an 8/10 by late fall/winter when i actually start putting dresses on.) how was the purchase and fitting experience?
any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
