Help! I’m looking at the Governor General Ballroom at the Westin for a ceremony and reception and I do not like the walls. Has anyone done a wedding there?? If so how did you hide the walls?? What was the cost? I’m thinking about pipe and drape type of decor but think it may be to expensive???!!

@milkchocolate: What did you end up deciding? And if you went with The Westin how was the service? I’ve heard nightmares? Just curious about your experience.
And I agree about the walls (and to an extent the carpet!). It’s the first thing I notice in photos and it drove me nuts – which is why I wouldn’t go with a hotel wedding (Chateau would be the exception, but it was too ornate and daughty for my tastes). I would think draping the entire perimeter of the wall would add up!

I found the same thing – great view, but really tacky decor and carpets. It would be SOOO expensive to pipe and drape the walls that you might as well go somewhere else – you’ll save money and have a better look/atmosphere…

I’ve booked the Westin. Not the GG but the Provinces Ballroom. I’ve asked about draping, but because my ceilings are way higher (19′) than the GG room I was told that getting a cherry picker to install draping would be insane. In any event, the walls and everything have orange in them (my colour) so I’m getting orange uplighting to augment that. I’ll let you know how it goes. Also, if anyone else has pictures of the provinces or conferation ballrooms for a wedding message me!

I traveled to Ottawa on business many years ago and stayed at an absolutely exquisite property very near the Westin. Woud La Chateau Laurier be an option instead?
ETA: Oops. I just noticed that this thread is a year old, so it’s quite likely you’ve already found a solution. 🙂
