The white gold/yellow gold/rose gold dilemma

I think Rose Gold is super forgiving. I have a pad sapphire set in white as my engagment ring and am actually getting a rose gold wedding band since it matches through the pad (just enough). Then I am going to try and shift to rose gold. I will likely still have white pieces and occassionally be given them, and that is fine since I have my ering set in white. I really enjoy the options. Yellow is a bit harsh for me and what I wear and I feel more flexibility using rose and the occasional white. Those who hate mixed metals at all costs probably would think I am crazy, but I do think rose allows for a bit more white slipped in here and there.

I actually think rose gold is flashier than yellow gold, personally. It also sometimes has a copper look to me, which I don’t really like

RoseEcho211:  White metals have always been my favourite. Like you I tend to find they tone better with more of my outfits, and I tend only to wear yellow gold jewellery with certain colours (eg I have a pink-ish/red top that yellow gold looks AWESOME with).

I do like rose gold, but only with certain stones; mainly peach/pale pink ones (like morganite or peach sapphire). I agree with the poster above in that I think rose gold can look flashier than yellow gold in some settings/with some stones (eg white stones). I’d love a rose gold RHR, but wouldn’t choose it for an engagment ring.

It’s personal preference though; I’d maybe try a few in the different metals and see which you like best.

I started off with a white gold setting, and added a second wedding band in rose gold. I am purely in love with the rose, rich copper tone of rose gold. And as you said, I find it mixes so well with white metals!! I’ve acquired 3 rose gold bands for my right hand, one of which has white prongs. Again mixing rose and white. I have very pieces of yellow gold, which I wear only with certain styles of outfit. On my skin tone, white and rose are best 😉

Maybe a mix of white and rose gold? Here’s mine. Sorry it’s huge, can’t resize from my phone…

I think pinks paired with greys look lovely together, so if you wear lots of grey toned clothes, then a rose gold ring may be a great choice. However you may be looking into this a little too deeply.  I could see how wondering if a colored stone would clash with certain outfits, but gold looks good with everything.

RoseEcho211:  I was in the same boat as you, I wear white metals. My husband really wanted me to have a yellow gold wedding set. At first I was hesitant and thought it would clash against my usual choices in clothes and other accessories. Now, I find I love it! I havent changed my style at all, and instead of clashing, I feel the yellow gold just makes my wedding set “special” and apart from my norm.

I think yellow or rose gold would be lovely! Choose your hearts desire 🙂

My ring used to be yellow gold, but I ended up changing it to a white setting. I have pale skin and felt like the yellow was a harsh contrast. I’m in love with rose gold tho so I’m going to try to work some pieces into my collection. I felt a little bad for changing my ring because I do like yellow gold, just not for something that I wear/see every day.

Yellow gold can look very good with grey.
