If you’ve been around this site for a while you’ve probably seen hundreds of these posts. Brides are SO excited that their photog blogged their wedding (or engagement) and they just have to share it with the world. I admit, I was equally as excited when our wedding was blogged but then I realized something… we’re actually not all that special since he blogs EVERY wedding that he shoots. I’ve also found this to be the case with a great deal of the other photographers in my area. It seems like they take the time to blog about every wedding that they work so I guess I don’t really find it to be all that much of an honor as some brides seem to. Now, I’m not saying that every photographer in existence blogs about every wedding that they shoot. Maybe they do pick and choose but at least in my experience, it seems like everyone who hires a photographer that has a blog, gets their wedding featured in some capacity. Obviously making it into an outside blog like SMP or something similar is totally different (and awesome!) but the vast majority of the links that I see on here are directing to their photogs blog. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with this, it’s just something that I’ve noticed and I wondered if others had too.
If your wedding was blogged, do you know if your photog actually blogs every wedding that they shoot or was yours chosen for a specific reason?

Yes we were blogged, no our photog doesn’t blog every wedding he shoots, but the specific reason he blogged our wedding was *probably* because he had nothing else going on lol. We got married in Feb and he didn’t have many winter weddings so that is probably why he blogged us. I was super excited about it but not because I thought we were famous for being blogged or something. I was just excited bc it was my first chance to see some of our pics.

Our photog does have a blog but doesn’t put every wedding he does on there. I picked we weren’t blogged but it might be kind of early still.

My photographer blogs about most of her engagement shoots (ours included), but not the weddings (usually). Our wedding cake and dessert course managed to sneak in, though!

Our photog blogs every wedding, but not every e-shoot. I have noticed that the number of photos posted varies pretty widely though.
Our e-pics weren’t blogged, but we had a pretty substantial wedding blog post.
(I wasn’t crazy about our e-pics because Darling Husband was super stiff and awkward in them, which wasn’t the photogs fault at all. I think they sensed that we didn’t totally love them.)

I selected that we were not blogged and our photographer does not have a blog. I must admit, when I joined WB and saw all of those posts, I had some of the same thoughts that you did. At first I was thinking, “Wow! They must have had a spectacularly gorgeous wedding!” but then I quickly realized that most of the links were not to magazine websites and such but, rather, to the couples’ photographers’ own blogs. It seems likely that most photographers who have wedding-photography blogs probably do blog about most of their wedding photography work.

Hah, I guess our wedding was boring-looking. Our photographer has a blog but doesn’t blog all her weddings and chose not to show ours. She typically chooses to show the very SMP-esque weddings she does. I was a little sad for like a second because I thought (ok I’m biased but whatever) it was a nice wedding, but I got over it.

Our photographer doesn’t blog every one of his weddings and he blogged ours. Likely because it was a destination wedding.
I think a lot of people are excited about showing off their blogs not because its a novelty that they’re picked but it’s a chance to share your pro pics with the hive.

@misspeanut: I’m sure your wedding was beautiful but you’re right, if your photog does pick and choose, they probably just chose their weddings that they felt were of “magazine quality”. That doesn’t mean they were any better than yours, though. 🙂
@Brielle: When I first joined I thought the same thing. To me, being “blogged” meant that they were featured on an actual blog not run by the photographer themselves.
@everyone: Thanks for the feedback. 🙂

I think it’s great that people are excited to see their pictures in a public capacity but I have to admit, I don’t understand the feeling of BLOG! SQUEEEEEEEE LOOKLOOKLOOK! Sharing is one thing but considering how often it happens I just consider it a normal part of wedding photography, I guess.
My photographer shared that she is submitting some of our pictures to magazines and such. That’s exciting to me, but now that I’m married and the hoopla has died down, I honestly couldn’t care less about seeing my wedding in a magazine. It’d be cool but if it doesn’t happen its no big!

I believe our photographer blogs every wedding/engagement session she does. She also does boudoir sessions (but has never had anyone let her post anything), family portraits, and senior portraits, but I’m not sure of the volume of those she does compared to weddings.

@KristenGotMarried: Your wedding was fabulous so I wouldn’t be surprised if you make it into a magazine. Lucky bitch!
