The worst thing that could have happened just happened. I lost my job and we had to cancel our wedding. I had nearly everything in place, deposits made on the venue, invitations purchased and my girls in dresses, even my dress in storage. We didn’t have a cake or a photographer or any flowers, and we know we won’t be able to pay for anything else. The hardest part was breaking the news to family and canceling all of the vendors. I am pretty sad about all of this, but I know that June 26th will be a very sad day. Instead of walking down the aisle and getting married, and having a great receptio, I will most likely be at work. I was just hired at a new place, but making less money and its going to take us a while to recover what I lost in the weeks I was out of work. I am greatful that I found a new job, but I am bummed that the wedding had to be put off. I will happen eventually, but I was so looking forward to the whole thing, and starting our new lives together. I am just very disappointed. 🙁

OMG so sorry to hear that. There was no way to DIY or just look for ways to cut costs? Were you refunded by the vendors you already booked? Look at the bright side, you were able to find another job. Im sure you have a great support system that will get you through the dissapointment. HUGS

So sorry…were you able to reschedule with some of the vendors at least? I am so happy that you were able to bounce into a new job so quickly. Good luck with everything.

I really feel for you. The same thing happened to me but for a different reason (immigration). Believe me the hardest part is breaking out the news but you’ll get over it. You still have your fiance and that’s all that really matters in the end. The wedding is just the beginning and not the whole marriage. Good luck !!!

I was given a partial refund for some of the stuff, but I was already doing a mostly DIY wedding pretty low cost anyhow. I just can’t see any way of paying for a wedding this year without skimping on bills…We aren’t even doing the usual Chrsitmas this year. $20 limit where we would usually spend $100 or so on eachother. Things will get better, but I was looking forward to the wedding so much. At least we are still together and have a good relationship. No honeymoon in Ireland either 🙁 We picked a new date tho, 11-11-11. Hopefully we will be in better shape when we go to plan that. I guess there is a bright spot in all of it tho, 11-11 is a great date to get married.

Awww. I’m so sorry.
I know 11-11 will be wonderful for you and maybe since you’ll be able to plan a little longer, you’ll be able to do some things you gave up before. When my FI lost his job, it completely killed our aggresive saving plan and I was devastated. Like you said, you two have each other and sometimes things have a way of working themselves out.

So sorry. That is really disappointing. But you still have your fella, your health, your family, and a job (at all). And I agree that 11-11-11 is a super date!

I have always believed i the power of 11 11. Maybe this all happened for a reason. After we had to cancel, it just seemed like a sign. 11/11/11 should give us plenty of time to get back into good financial standing and I was hired on 11/11. Strange coincidence perhaps, but I think the angels are sending me a sign. What could be better than getting married on a day when the angels are surrounding us.
