How about just a gift card for somewhere they registered? who doesnt love gift cards!
why not get them a gift card to the store where their registry is at? That way they can get the cheese grater themselves or something else they want.
We got a couple giftcards and were really happy to be able to use them for what we wanted instead of returning something we didn't want.
I agree with gift card.
But if you want to be creative: how about the cheese grater and make it theme...like wine and cheese. Get the grater and some gourmet cheeses, a bottle of wine, and two wine glasses.
Cash is always good. And better than a gift card IMO to somewhere from where they arleady have a ton of stuff.
If you get an off-registry gift without knowing the couple very well, it's likely it won't fit into what they have/need and they may need to return it. You could get them a gift card to where they are registered, or even to a local grocery store or restaurant to help keep those newlywed tummies full and happy. :)
I think if you really want to give them something, you can also pick out something similar to everything on their registry and just include a gift receipt.
A couple of things we got that weren't on our registry
I always like the themed set stuff. We registered for an old fashion air pop corn maker. My friend got us that and then got us lots of gourmet popcorn and seasonings and a big pop corn bowl.
Candle sticks. Just try to find a style that matches the other stuff on their registry, and include a gift receipt.
Those are all good ideas. Yea I was thinking about a gift card anyways, but wanted to get them something a little more meaningful that a cheese grater. :) Thanks for the ideas!
Either do cash or get them something that wasnt on their registry but that maybe they didnt register for but that is really useful/cool. And then include the gift receipt and that way even if they dont like it they can return or exchange it!
They will love you if you just give them cash. Many of my friends really just wanted/needed the cash anyway, and were cooking up schemes to convert the gifts they felt they had to register for into cash.

... and I think the only thing left on their is a cheese grater or something. I'm NOT just getting them a cheese grater. I don't really know the couple very well, so I'm afraid to get them something that isn't their 'style'. Any ideas for some 'generic' gifts that one may not have thought to put on their registry?
