I’m trying to pick things so that I have a unified theme with my wedding. The problem? I don’t have a theme yet!
So far all I have our deep purple bridesmaids dresses. I’m getting married in a church and having the reception in a banquet hall with lots of windows that overlooks beautiful gardens. I haven’t picked invites, flowers, or anything else yet. Help!

you could do something rustic–i love the look of dark purple with wheat (like actualy wheat). I have seen some weddings that use wheat as their motif/theme and it turned out beautifully. you could also add in some burlap, natural wood, and shades of cream/tan.
or, you could go for something brighter and add some bright yellow flowers. i have seen some cute floral wedding invitations that are purple and yellow. they go great together. you could also come up with awesome centerpieces with these colors. i always think sunflowers are beautiful…
or, you could go for something more formal and use shades of silver, pewter, and gray to go with yoru dark purple. you can have a “chandalier” motif or theme, and have lots of bling, sparkles, etc. you could add crystals/brooches to the girls’ outfits, have chandliers hanging at your reception, etc.
these are just a few ideas. let me know if you need picture inspiration!

@MissDareDevil: Wow that was almost instant! I would love to see pictures!
I really love your last idea but I think the venue I have wouldn’t fit that type of theme and that seems to be the problem I’m running into. I’m trying to post a picture but its a lovely room with a huge brown chandelier so I think I should have thought out my purple better.

I dont think you necessarily need a theme. You have already chosen purple as a color and I would just say pick things that don’t clash with the dress colors and that do not clash with the venue. If you can’t post a picture of the venue can you put up a link? And can you post the bridesmaid dresses and maybe your dress? that may help

There is an old jazz standard called “Mood Indigo” I immediately thought of that when I read your post.
Indigo is a deep blue purple color. Purple can be combined with so many other colors for your ceremony , then add lots of candles for a glamorous evening look.
Beautiful summer flowers like hydrangeas, delphiniums and lilacs will incorporate the blue and purple tones.
Here’s a link to color palettes that feature purple on “perfect Palette”
Look through the inspiration boards and see which combination of colors speaks to your heart.
