Most bridal models are ugly, freakish skinny/gaunt, and the dresses look better on real people…. There are way prettier people in the recaps section than in the magazines. There, I said it, I feel better now. Moving on….
Ok, no, wait – that was mean. They arn’t ugly, the photo editing makes them look that way.

They just always look so miserable. You’re not selling the dress if you look like you hate wearing it. Urgh and the poses? who approves those pictures?

I was looking at more modest gowns (because I want at least a strap (got it) and no plunging neckline (check) and was fond of cap sleeves (no go)) and I actually think those pictures are even worse. Many of the pictures gave of an “I’m about to be raped” vibe. It was awful

I would never have chosen my dress from the pic of the model. It looks sooo much better on me. Yeah me!

So, its not just me!!!! I saw several girls show the model pic of a dress and I thought, ewwwww and then I saw it on a person and I changed my mind. I agree, it does NOT sell the dress. The model of my dress looked nice…

Completely agree! My model looked like she was about to tip over, and I just saw these other ones yesterday where they looked like they were on stilts! Why would you want to advertise a gown thats 19 feet long!?

@tnason: Oh how true! I thought I was weird for noticing that but what’s with the “up against the wall” poses!? Seriously disturbing!
And how many times do I think “PLEASE just stand up straight!” when looking at dress pics!?
There’s one Demetrios model in particular that looks like the living dead. Maybe it’s bad photoshop work or something but her head never matches her body or skin tone on her neck and it looks VERY creepy, like her head is about to fall of.
@evalague: I totally agree. The model for my dress isn’t ugly but she looks fake and plasticy and gives me the wrong vibe. She looks constipated. I found someone’s blog where the bride is wearing MY dress and it looks awesome! So fresh and real!
Vs the very uptight looking model:
This Casablanca one always makes me laugh, and not in a good way (she looks like she’s running away and got busted! Maybe she’s stealing that purse? lol)
I like this model though. THis is an Eden bridals dress and I’ve seen her in others. She looks pretty and normal IMO:

This is a pic of my dress from the web site, and I think the model looks like she is just really annoyed and/or tired.

They do have some ridiculous poses and I HATE when they’re bent weird and don’t show off the dress.
I think the Jim Helm brunette is gorgeous though!

@TowerofTerror: She has that “angry teenager” look! Great dress though! That’s another thing that bugs me. Some of the models don’t look old enough to have had their first period yet, much less be of marrying age!
I found the Demetrios model. My son said “THat is the WORST photoshop job I’ve ever seen!” and went on about proportions and how her head is way too big for that body.
This one really cracks me up though. I adore the dress and most dresses from UK designer Ian Stuart but check out the scene: farmhand, hay, and riding crop!?

@camrie Yep, this woman is absolutely beautiful! I think you mean this one:

My girl looks pretty…but I don’t pay much attention to the pics in the ads anyway. I’m all about the dresses!

@tnason: Lol!!! I agree absolutely, I’ve looked at some of the modest lines too, and the photography is just awful.
I do think Priscilla of Boston has some lovely models though, especially the brunette who appears in most of the Vineyard collection. Plus I like that they just use the runway photos instead of ridiculous poses and settings like those above haha.

The girl in my dress looks pretty moody! [attachment=1141162,143976]

I was just going to say that the Jim Hjelm model is really pretty, but I see a few people already beat me to it.
Have you guys seen those ads, I forget which designer it’s for, where there’s a lady in a bridal gown standing with a naked man? Those ads always creep me out!
