I am so excited! After our initial offer, their counter, our counter, and their final counter, we signed the contract for our starter home! It was listed for 184,900, and we ended up with 178,000 with us taking care of closing costs and them taking care of warranty costs. Other than my mom and close friend, I can’t tell anyone around me because I don’t want to tell so many people should anything fall through. I guess with how long the whole house hunting process has been, until we close, I don’t want to tell many people, but I am so excited about this house! It’s even my favorite colors outside!
We anticipate spending about 5k in updates including depopcorning the walls (seriously…why was that ever popular?), adding carpet to the bedrooms (beautiful hardwood throughout), and updating the kitchen appliances and adding granite countertops. We’re probably going to restain the kitchen cabinets too. Just wanted to post some pictures from their listing to share my excitement. Here’s hoping it’s smooth sailing from here because I am sooo ready for this process to be over.

OMG… gorgeous!!! Something like your pics would be around $600-800k here, depending on neighborhood.

@LTD418: Congrats, its beautiful.
@SaltedCaramel: Here too, it would be worth at least $550,000 and depending on area just goes up from there!

@LTD418: Congratulations! Beautiful house.

@SaltedCaramel: oh wow! Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised. I was originally from California, and my parents sold their 2100 sq ft house for 675k, and that was almost 9 years ago!
Thanks! I am so excited! Which is a good thing, yet it’s bad because I’m trying to not get too excited for fear of something happening -_-

Wow congratulations! 🙂 Depending on overall size, number of bedrooms, etc that would probably run at around $700k-$800k in my area! But I am in the inner suburbs of a large city.

@LTD418: Congrats – what a lovely home!

@LTD418: Congrats! The hardwood really is beautiful. Is there hardwood in the bedrooms as well?
My FI is sitting next to me looking at the pictures, and when I asked him what he thought this house would cost in our neighbourhood, he said “$2 million dollars.” He choked on his drink when I told him what you’ve purchased for! Good deal – you’re lucky!

Gorgeous home! Congrats!
I have major jealousy right now 😀

@letigre: There is hardwood in the bedrooms as well, though there is a small knick on the hardwood in the master bedroom. FI and I both like carpet in the bedrooms anyway, so not a problem 🙂 I can’t believe he thought it would be that much!
@Jacqui90: After reading yours and other’s comments, I am so happy to be living in Texas 🙂
Thanks! I just hope that I don’t wake up tomorrow to bad news. Turning in my checks for the earnest money and option money tomorrow to my realtor.

What a nice house! Congrats!
A house like that, depending on the # of bedrooms, could easily go for $1 Million here. You got a good deal 🙂

I guess I should update with the specs – the house has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and is about 2200 sq ft.
