So I went for my second fitting today aaaaand… they took in my dress too much. Like, so much that there was no possible way that it could do up. I stayed calm in the store and they said they could fix it, but there was a good 2 inch gap where there were two EXTRA inches of fabric two weeks ago! I can’t possibly have gained that much weight, especially since I’ve been eating and working out the same as I have this entire time, but it made me feel absolutely terrible.
My consultant said it was a mistake and assured me that they could let it out and even thanked me for being so calm, but in my head I was freaaaaking out. I examined the dress after I took it off and I think the fabric they took in is still there, just, like, folded up… but I’m terrifed they won’t be able to fix it! Has anyone ever had any experience with something like this?

MrsRevolutionize: They will be able to alter it to fit. Somebody did make a mistake in their mesuring though. No seamstress is going to cut off the extra fabric on the seams of a wedding gown.

julies1949: That’s my logic too, so thank you for confirming! Sigh. They scheduled me back for an extra fitting next week to make sure they’ve fixed it, so hopefully it’ll be good by then.

Me! My seamstress was supposed to take 3 inches off my corset but leave where it zippered because it zipped up perfectly. The corset was inside. She took out 3 inches out of each!! So at my second fitting, it would not zip! She fixed it though and it turned out fine!

My mom accidentally moved the botton on the panel behind my corset over too much and then had to fix it. Luckily it was a quick fix but I totally understand the panicked feelings when you try on the dress and it doesn’t fit! Don’t worry, they’ll be able to fit it properly 🙂

No worries! Like other bees said, no good seamstress would cut the fabric. I had a second fitting just over a week ago. Mr dress originally was one size too big (sample dress). She took it in so much, the dress wouldn’t fit over my butt or over my head – well not until some major shimmying happened! 😀
She actually cut the seams while the dress was still on me. In a few days, she fixed it and it fits PERFECTLY! It’s hanging in my closet, and I have to use all my self control not to put it on and dance around the apartment!!
Your next fitting is surely going to work out the same! It will fit like a dream and you’ll forget all about that too-small fitting. Good luck!

moedude: Thank you so much! I’m glad to hear that it’s happened to other people before and that it’s a fixable problem. 🙂 🙂 Hopefully I won’t be posting next week about the same problem, hahah!

- Wedding: July 2014 - Prague
My dress is back at my seamstress’s right now, 8 days before the wedding. It wasn’t lining up right (top dress with under corset/skirt) and you could see the seams so it looked bad. Also, one of my breasts is larger than the other and it throws off the center of the neckline. *eyeroll* Stupid tits.
I am just taking deep breaths and blocking the whole thing out.

MrsRevolutionize: yes but I could still zip it up – I know that I didn’t gain THAT much weight but it was definitely much tighter than expetced.
