Went to my car this morning to go to work... not gonna happen!  Theives broke the windows, only they didn't take anything.  I guess they were  bummed because I'm not dumb enough to leave valuables in the car, so sad.

But, the real reason I'm posting this is because the officer said there most apparent reason for the break in is that we had left the suction thingy for the gps in the window, so don't do this ladies!  We didn't have the GPS there but theives will try to check!

Now, I have to get the car fixed during lunch and that's $300 I could be spending toward our wedding!  I'm so annoyed, money is not comin' in as fast as its goin'.....

That is awful. I've heard about people breaking into cars when they see the GPS thingys in the window. My FI always reminds me of this (which is why we never put ours on the window) and we always tell everybody we know who has a GPS to not put their's on either. That's really too bad that happened to you. At least they didn't steal anything though.

They cover it but that's the deductible, such a bummer.  I'm just relieved no one was hurt and nothing of value was taken.

Right?  Aren't Monday's hard enough?  Thanks for the support ladies :o)

I called my Mother's house to vent and my step father answered.  His way of showing support?  "well you live in NYC, go get the window fixed"... gee thanks lol.

ugh nothing is worse than a broken window. i venture to say it may be worse than something seriously wrong with the car (like running wise) because it isn't inevitable and it is so inconvenient. Sorry the thieves are tapping into the budget!

Wow that sucks! (huggs!) Sorry that happened to you.
But yea whenever we use the GPS, I put in in my purse as soon as we get to where we are going. That's advice I always get from friends and stuff. ("If you ever travel to a city, don't leave your gps in the car, people will try to steal it.) and they do! I don't know why though. I mean I know they are expensive, but for real, it's not that special, at least I don't think so.

Ouch, that's horrible! Sorry you're going to have to put that money into the car. Those jerks!!! My brother just had the same thing happen, but somehow they took the entire keyhole/locking mechanism out of his car as well as breaking a window - to get nothing!!!

Why do people have to be so stupid!? Hope the rest of your week improves!

This happened to my BF a while ago....but his car was actually in his driveway...and his brother had used his car that night and forgot to lock the door...found his VERY nice GPS and stole it along with the suction thingy...i doubt that they would have tried to go in his car if he didnt have the suction thingy there but he did...any wires for your ipod or bluetooth or whatever you keep in there will alert thieves also...just make sure to hide all accessories also!

Sorry to hear about that.  That really sucks.  I hated all the extra emergancies that came up while we were trying to budget.  My husband does that with his XM radio - just leaves it in lain site.  Drives me nuts!

Sorry that happened!  It sucks when you have to spend money on something that you know you could be saving for the wedding..it happens to me all the time too!!  The fi and I take down our suction thing for the GPS because we heard about that same thing!

AT least it wasn't your back window--those are WAY more expensive

On that note ladies, yes they want your GPS system and look for the residual marks of your suction cup thingy on your window.

They make ones that go on your dashboard so they are inconspicuous. I'm getting ready to buy one so I can have more window visibility also. Way safer.

Sorry about your car! That really sucks.

Ugh - same thing happened to me...  Theives made off with my ancient radar detector...  woohoo for them.   The repair to the car felt like such a waste of time and $$$.  I feel your pain.

I've had my (old) car broken into 3 times, and despite the window repair always costing more than anything that was stolen, the thing that pissed me off the most was when it was the driver's side window that was broken. I mean, if you're going to ruin my day, at least be considerate enough to break the PASSENGER side window so that I can drive to the repair shop! ;)

Same thing happened to me - in NYC, too. My GPS thing wasn't on the window but you could still see the marks from where the suction cup thingy had been. The cop said that might have been it or it could have been that I had an empty CVS prescription bag and some other trash in the backseat and they might have been looking for drugs. They didn't steal anything of value but they stole all my CDs - not too many and most were burned, but I had some really solid mixes in the car that I won't be able to make again. I was covered, luckily, but I found out in the morning when I was supposed to be leaving for work so I then had to go to the gas station, vacuum glass out of the car (and I couldn't get it all), then drive an hour to work with no window AND no music. SO LAME.
