Nothing has ever slimmed my thighs like slow, long distance running.

@BrandNewBride:  ditto! Though I find that any bit of running helps me. I alternate long runs with fast, shorter interval running. Good luck OP! My dress is a bit snug on my thighs, I’ve been running like crazy!

@maloussii:  I’m naturally thin however if I do ANY weight or resistance training on my legs they get bigger quickly so I always avoid this. I always keep resistance low on the xtrainer and bike and even the treadmill. Good luck:)

@maloussii:  I generally run between 5-6mph for an average run, and between 4-11 miles in distance,

But my Mom is a speedwalker (3.5-4.5mph), and only does 1-3 miles, and she’s lost 50lbs+ just walking 4-5 days a week!

It’s really all about doing what you can at your ability level!

I’ve always been told you can’t target weight loss to a specific area.  But you can develop more muscle which will burn more fat at rest.  I have the same concern, I do the P90X legs & back workout (has a variety of lunges, kick, squats etc) once a week and it keeps me toned.  I also jump rope for a great cardio workout.  Try cutting out some white foods like: bread, sugar, flour, pasta, potatos and rice.  A personal trainer told me these convert to fat in your body.  I always feel sluggish after eating them anyway. A dinner roll once and a while won’t hurt.  Consume lots of water, brown rice, lean protein and lots of colorful veggies.

@maloussii:  Just as PP’s state..lots of running!! Try inner/outer thigh machines right after your run on a LOW weight, nothing more than 70-75lbs. Also make sure that you’re burning more calories than taking in!

Personally I love the leg press machine- it works the entire leg and always feels awesome afterwards (legs are my worst “trouble spot”) I also love the stairstepper, although in my experience that does more for the outer legs than the inner. Lunges are also fun and require no equipment, unless if you want to carry some hand weights while you do them 🙂 I used to run, I know how it really shapes you up, but had to stop due to knee problems- I find the above to be pretty low-impact though!

I have naturally thick legs that I have struggled with to slim my entire life. I do a lot of squats combined with lower body cardio. Unfortunately I HATE running, but kickboxing and zumba have helped slim my legs.
