This might be a weird question, but before I go traipsing over to a jeweler to ask them, does anyone know if it’s fairly easy to make a wedding band wider (larger mm)? I’m not talking about the ring finger size, but the width of the band.
We ordered my fiance’s custom wedding band from a jeweler in NYC that is 14K yellow gold, 3 mm wide. I didn’t realize just how thin this was until we got it and he tried it on – it looks skinny and honestly a bit flimsy on his hands. The fact that it was pricey and customized (my birthstone is set on the inside of the band) means I can’t exactly start all over, so I was hoping it was possible to just take it anywhere, have them put it into a larger cast, and add some gold to it. I’m not a jeweler though so this might not be as easy as I’m imagining. Has anyone tried doing this successfully? Was it difficult to find someone to do it?
