“Am I invited?”

“Well, that’s not how I would do it…”

“That was really popular in (past tense time)”

“Are you sure you can afford that?” or “Oh come on, you can afford it!”

Why does wedding planning bring out so much rudeness in otherwise socially normal people??

I would never spend that much on X.

Are you sure you want to do that? That might be a little tacky.

“Your guest list is too big, but you need to invite so and so and this second cousin and that third cousin.”

“OMG I saw this thing on pinterest and you HAVE to use it!”

What’s wrong with these?

“My (blank) is getting married in (blank) and those are her colors too!” – There are only so many color combos. Obviously other couples are going to have the same idea.

“That’s really popular right now.” – How can you be upset over someone stating facts?

“I’ve seen that before.” – Anyone with knowledge of the wedding world has seen everything. My friend is planning her daughters wedding and came to me to discuss all of her “creative” ideas. I’ve seem them all before. Blame pinterest.

“Are you SURE you can afford this wedding?”

“Your FI probably doesn’t want to marry you since he’s not helping plan.”

“”You cannot get married before me.”

“You should be saving money for a house.”

“Weddings are frivolous.”

“Why aren’t you FORCING your man to help you plan?”

“Weddings are supposed to take place in a CHURCH. Anything else is not okay.”

“You cannot pull off that dress. Pick a different dress.”

I’m sure I can come up with more inane statements if I think about it.

(After receiving a STD in the mail with one of our engagement pics on it) “Well, it’s not the photo would have chosen for your save-the-dates.”

Honestly, the only thing that truly bothers me is when people ask how much we are spending. But even then, no one does it to be rude, they are just curious (and a lot of times they are thinking about their own wedding and wondering what they’re in for…)

“Of course I’ll be there!! I would never miss the most important day of my best friends life!”

And then not go or even RSVP regrets.

Are you working out for the wedding?

…Seriously? But that’s not a requirement, I’m pretty sure. Besides, I’m a fitness junkie already. Can’t I just workout because I LIKE it?
