So I’ve definitely gotten an education on things that people do for weddings. Here are the things I’d never heard of, or didn’t know about, before joining this site:
-Out of town bags
-Photobooth at a wedding
-Tipping your vendors (you have to pay them more?!)
-Trash the dress shoots
-Brides and grooms exchanging gifts/letters the day of
-shabby chic/rustic chic
What about you?

-cushion cut (How did I never know?!)
-rose gold (I love how it warms up the skin)
That knowledge super would’ve come in handy when ring shopping, lol.

i think the only new thing I’ve come across on wedding bee is the dollar dance. so weird!
Also, I’d heard of ring upgrades but honestly before I started reading these boards, I thought it was one of those people-can-be-so-ridiculous type urban legends or something. I had no idea so many people actually did it!
there was a lot of stuff I hadn’t heard of before pinterest!
-wedding day presents between bride and groom
-mason jars! lol. since when did the humble jar get a brand name? I had to google it to see what it was all about!
-ridiculous guest book alternatives
-giving your dad some kind of present (like the hankerchiefs that say ‘i’ll always be your little girl’)
-those coat hangers with names on them so you can get nice pictures of your dresses hanging up…

a lot of stuff that um, surprised me, some of which has been touched on above 🙂

@polkadotgirl: If money was no object you bet your sweet ass I’d be having a Viennese hour. I mean damn. Dessert EVERYWHERE.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one out of the loop when it came to stuff like this. The sorts of pricey weddings where this type of stuff is common just don’t happen in my social circle or my family.

@hyperJulie: sometimes I really wish I had more rich friends/family (or just friends from cultures who have big weddings) so I could go to more big weddings! I don’t think any of my friends would ever have a wedding like that. although one of my friends is OBSESSED with cake and desserts, so I’m keeping this in the back of my mind to suggest when she gets married!

@hyperJulie: I just learned about “gender reveal” parties. And expecting moms get to be angry when people don’t come to them.
Sweet mother Jesus.

Before the bee I never knew so many brides opted for alternatives to diamonds! Everyone I know has a diamond, I had never even thought of anything else before the bee!
