Hi bees! I never envisioned myself in a strapless, and I have been thinking for months about adding cap sleeves, like the 2nd picture. I just think the sleeves frame the face nicely, and makes the dress look a little different from today’s “norm”. I won’t be wearing a veil or a necklace, just a flashy hair comb with my hair down, earrings, and a bracelet.
Do you think the adding of the sleeves will be a big deal to the alterations people? I’m getting it altered at the boutique where I bought it.
My dress, BEFORE any alterations:
An idea of what I might want for sleeves: (don’t remember where I got this pic, if I stole it from another bee, my apologies!)
Thanks for your input! <3

Cap sleeves would look really cute with your dress.

Yes, a good seamstress will make them look great!

I say go for it! I love the way cap sleeves look!

I love cap sleeves and am planning on doing this also. I don’t want to look like like typical strapless bride!

My experience probably differs from yours as I am a fairly heavy set person a normal size Australian 18, but cap sleeves on some dress actually made my shoulders looked broader! I tried my dress with both cap sleeves (they had little ones in store you could tuck into your dress) and without and my maids and I agreed that I actually looked thinner without! However my experience is probably different because of my size. I say if you have always wanted cap sleeves, go for it!

I say go for it. Cap sleeves matching the lace of your dress would really make the look more individual. I agre with you, sleeves really help to frame the face. I added a bolero to my dress and I prefer 100% the pictures of me wearing the bolero over the strapless dress pictures.

I think you could definitely pull off cap sleeves! I’m not a big fan of strapless dresses, either. Your dress is lovely as is, but I believe it would be lovier with cap sleeves.

Add them! 🙂 I want to add sleeves to my gown as well. I think they add a bit of romance to a gown.
