Currently, I am an attorney living in NJ and engaged to a woman who is originally from the DC area. We’re probably going to be relocating to the DC area in 2016 and, while she can always transfer to the DC/NOVA office, I work for an 8 attorney firm, so I don’t have that luxury. When we move, I would like to transition from litigation to Public Policy analysis/government service and am contemplating going to grad school to obtain my MPA and/or MPH.
My question is whether my J.D. will be enough in the DC area or whether it would be worth the extra $20k (already about $200k in the whole) in that it would help me obtain a job. Obviously, I will take the VA Bar when I move, but don’t want to wait up to a year prior to obtaining a job.
Any advice would be helpful.
