I taught preschool for awhile and supernanny hints really helped me control those buggers.

but ultimately, watching supernanny just makes me want to rip out my ovaries.

I don’t have any kids myself, but I worked as a nanny for a while and her techniques are generally pretty valid. She does know what she’s talking about, IMO.

Shows like this terrify me.  I don’t want demon spawn children!

My Fiance and I are both in education and many of the techniques that she shares with her families are the same as classroom management (the rules and consequences for our students). Trends like having a regular schedule, clear guidelines, tracking (have you seen the one where the kids cuss a lot and she would make them take down a pic of a mouth?), rewards and verbal praise. Oh! And consistency! Otherwise, kids can get confused about what are the actual rules (if you enforce them sometimes or not).

We are looking forward to that time when we are ready to have kids – we are confident we will be good parents and well-behaved children 🙂

My sister uses some of her techniques and I’ve also used some with the kids I work with and I really do think she knows what she’s talking about and I find her helpful.  The hubby and I always watch her and say, “Wow, we would never let our kids get that bad.”  Or I guess at least we hope, lol!

I’ve seen the show a few times and the techniques are interesting. I find though that I always end up getting anxious, thinking that our kids are going to behave that badly, and it makes me apprehensive about having children.

I think though that once we’re expecting I will watch it more, just to make myself familiar with the techniques so we can use them from the get-go with our kids.

I think that show is scary, but really interesting! If the supernanny’s techniques work and are valid, and the parents can learn to parent better – then it’s not the children that are the “problem,” it’s the parents, right?

I think she has some really valid ideas and suggestions.  Obviously the key is not letting the situation get that far but learning tools on how to handle things ahead of time can help prevent issues.
