Do you have the dress in hand? Try just tucking the hem up underneath and pinning it to see how it looks. If you like it, then go for it! I’m having the train cut off my dress!!!

@eocenia: +1.  That’s what I was going to say as well.

I was considering doing this….so to test it out I went an tried on tea length gowns. They are soooooo adorable but they did not give me that bridal feeling. So before you go through with it I’d consider at least going and trying them on for feeling!

@iheartmarshall:  Well, if it’s a destination wedding it would certainly be easier to pack a dress without a full skirt! 🙂 We’re actually doing a DW too (Sweden), and I’ve been thinking about a short dress just for that very reason. Have looked at that bhldn dress more times than I want to admit to! Still no dress though…

@iheartmarshall:  the sales consultant (and my FI) made a good point…unless you go to balls, galas or red carpet events (you know such a common occurance 😉 ) this is the only time in a girls life she gets to wear a long gown.

Thats was convinced me that I needed a long gown! (Which ended up being a completely different gown then I already had!!! …but that’s a different story lol)

I wouldn’t chop the dress off. I know you do not have dress regret, but I would try to find a simular shorter dress, and possibly sell this dress. You’re paying for a lot of fabric that you will just loose!

Check out this link! Lot’s of dresses in that same style : ]
