Have you thought about Nuvaring? Its a lot easier to remember plus I really havnt had many side affects on it. My acne actually started getting less. However, every persons body reacts differently. You might want to discuss it with you gyno.
@miksje130: I thought about it before I got the IUD, but I think I'm wanting to just steer clear of hormonal birth control and see what my body is actually doing... I haven't had a period in 2 years so I feel like I just need a break from the synthetic stuff... But I can always go back to a birth control after a couple months and see how I feel... Thanks for the input!
@o0olibelulao0o: I have a Implanon and it is due to be taken out a month before our wedding. FI does not want me to get another because he is afraid of what hormonal BC is doing to my body (worrywart + Google = panic for him). I also do not want another because I was told by my doctor that with some of these implants, it can take a long time for your body to re-regulate its natural cycle. (This is what he said for Implanon, so I"m not sure about Mirena.) Due to these reasons, we are going to start using condoms more religiously and the FAM method. I got the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and have been starting to get in the habit of temping now, so that in May it will be second nature. If you are comfortable with this, it might be a good way to go so that you can avoid getting pregnant before you both want to, and you can give your body ample time to naturally regulate and rid of all the chemicals in the BC you were using.
I stopped taking my low dose progesterone (the same hormones as the mirena) about 6 months before our wedding. We used condoms and started charting. My only concern for you would be having irregular periods/spotting, but I think 5 months would give you enough time to work itself out. I would just hate for you to be stuck with AF on your wedding day.
@MrsMeNow: That's what I'm worried about, I acutally wouldn't care if it wasn't a really bad period it's mostly the cramps I'm worried about.
@soyjoy222: my friend just suggested that book, I think I'm going to take a look at it... and definitely talk to FI about what he thinks.

So, I've had my mirena in for about 2 years and haven't really had a problem with it, I've had some side effects including acne, weight gain, bloating, fatique and backpain just to name a few... nothing I couldn't blame solely on the mirena... WELL, I've been eating better and working out and I lost some weight but it's really hard to lose the last 10 lbs... I'm only 25 but I have always had a fast metabolism and I really don't think it should be this hard (I only want to be 140lbs at 5'3" that isn't too skinny!) and my acne has gotten OUT OF CONTROL and I'm starting to scar from it! I have NEVER in my life had acne, not even when I was going through puberty! I have to wash my face twice a day with acne clearing face wash, use an acne clearing toner AND a spot treatment and I STILL get a new pimple daily! And god forbit I miss a second washing! My wedding is 5 months away and if my acne gets much worse I will be really pissed... I'd also like to not be so bloated and tired and if the back pain could go away that would be amazing... some days it's hard to get out of bed it hurts so bad!
HOWEVER, we aren't trying to have kids until at least 6 months after the wedding... And at this point I really don't want to use hormonal birth control, I've been on some kind of hormonal birth control since I was 17... I really think my body wants a break. But then our only option would really be condoms... which I don't really care for, but really it would only be for 5 months until the wedding because then if an oops happened before the first 6 months it wouldn't be that big of a deal... That and the fact that I used to get really horrible cramping (to the point of almost fainting) and I was really irregular so I'm worried that going off of birth control will leave me with a ridiculously heavy and painful period the day of my wedding (which would be absolutely miserable!!) Then again, that was when I was 17, things change... I have had a month or two since then when I was between birth control methods and I had horrible cramping again... So I'm really scared to do anything, it seems like either option I'm screwed!
I guess I just want some opinions before I bring this up to FI... What should I do??
