I was originally quite set on a mermaid lace gown, but found this [content moderated for violation of TOS] gown at a shop and tried it on and really liked the beading detail and the sleeves. Now I’m thinking of getting this dress (in white) instead. this bridal shop offers tailoring and can therefore make the same dress for me in white as a wedding gown.
How do I look in this dress? Does it suit my body shape and do you think the dress is a good choice For a wedding? My wedding will be in a church followed by ballroom.
have included a picture of the original dress which inspired this piece. In the pictures of me in the dress, the sleeves are messed up and the beads not positioned properly so refer to the original dress for an idea of the sleeves.

…I hate being the first one here and being a negative Nancy but to be 100% honest, I dont like it. I dont like the crystal applique nor the “stuff” on the skirt, the vertical pleating – just no. I really think, no I KNOW there would be a banging ass dress out there for you. I just dont think this one is it. If you have the time and desire, please keep searching and I truly hope you dont mind my honesty.

Well i really like it, but i like those styles anyway. Its like jenny packham and eliza jane howell designs. one thing though, the beading and the bust dont seem to sit 100% correctly on you at the moment… i guess that would improve with tailoring?

Chicpeas: I like it! I think once it is fitted properly, it could look beautiful!

The detail is really lovely. I like how unique it is and that it looks high-quality. However it does seem to sit a bit heavy or something… like PP said tailoring will probably make a big difference. Very pretty!

How much are they charging? Personally I don’t really think it compares to the original…
I thought there was someone who had this dress made from one of the dress shops in china and it turned out beautifully, but of course I can’t find it now…

If you love it, do it! I think I’d prefer the white, it looks a bit nightgown to me in blush.

Chicpeas: its pretty, but I don’t think it flatters your shape. Have you tried on any mermaid gowns yet?

Hmm I’m going to have to lean toward CocoClassic‘s response here… It’s not doing too much for you :/ Maybe it’s the blush that I don’t like and it would look better in white? The shoulder things look like shoulder pads to me, and I’m not sure it’d go with a church/ballroom wedding… Obviously, you do whatever you feel most comfortable with, and if you really want and love this dress, go for it. But if you’re on the fence, I’d keep looking.

I think it’s very pretty!!

I love it, but then I love anything that looks vintage. If it fits your venue, I vote “go for it!”

I don’t like the color. I prefer the color in the original picture but if that’s what you like that’s all the should matter.

jofits: i didnt quite realise it was a knock off you were considering. would have concerns about quality.

I really don’t think the copy is a good replica of the original. I am sure there are some/plenty of brides who are happy with their replicas but I have yet to see one that looks really good. If I were you I would keep looking – there are lots of ‘budget’ dresses out there that don’t look ‘cheap’.
