So after not one, but two etsy misfires, we went into our local mom & pop jewelry store and purchased a setting. Only after I ordered a 7.50 mm OEC FB moissanite from MoissyCo. The finished ring should be in some time this week–WHICH MAKES ME CRAZY ANXIOUS AND EXCITED!!!–but for now, here are pics of my center stone (taken outside, in the car because I kept snapping pics of the different colors I was getting) as well as pics of the setting in an unfinished (no diamonds, unpolished) state. The pics show the setting which is made to accomodate a 2 carat center stone, so my center is sitting a bit low. We actually ordered the setting for a 1.5 carat, with G, VVS2 diamonds. The bands shown with it are mismatched and I was just trying something with it to get an idea.
And another pic of the shoulder of the ring from the side:

That stone is seriously gorgeous! I really love the setting too, can’t wait to see it when it’s finished! G color side stones will really make the center stone pop!

mrssloan2013: Thanks! I can’t wait to see it either! Thankfully, I have seen the ring in a much smaller version (the jewelry store had a .50 ruby as the center and it was soooo pretty!), so I can imagine what it will look like. We’d found a more vintage style setting, with lots of filagree and a lot less bling, but the moissy really didn’t shine in it–and it was polished. It just looked really flat and dull, but I’d been worried about setting a moissy next to diamonds. Jeweler stuck it into a setting that was far too modern for my tastes, but was finished and full of diamonds, and boy did that moissy brighten up and shine. Definitely eased any worries I had! And I will definitely post pics of it when it’s complete! Hopefully sometime this week, but it could be this weekend! The waiting is killing me. Argh.
***Editing to include a couple of pics of that smaller version–it’s on my middle finger, and you can see the larger, unfinished version there on my ring finger. On my other finger was a setting for an oval sapphire that was to die for…however, said oval sapphire hadn’t arrived yet and the jeweler couldn’t give me a price on the final ring. So, we went moissy. I’m DEFINITELY doing a sapphire RHR, though.

MoissyManiac: Thank you!
I ordered the loose stone from MoissyCo because I knew I could return it if I just didn’t love it. But I’ve got to say, I’ve looked at it under a multitude of lights, and it hasn’t disappointed. From lamplight in my office, to fluourescent lights in the same office, to full sunlight, to partial sunlight (in the car), that stone faces up very white–jeweler said he’d say an H, not -quite- a G–and has yet to show any yellowy, greenish, or greyish tones. The ugliest it has looked has been when we set it in a white gold filigree mounting that had no other diamonds in it. The white gold was darker, not a bright white, and the stone just didn’t sizzle. I was worried about surrounding it with diamonds, because I didn’t want a huge difference between the stones, but boy does it brighten up when in a diamond setting. Jeweler said that unless he was really examining it, he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. I wanted a sparkler, and that’s what we’ve got. Can’t wait to get the setting and the stone in it back from the jeweler!!
