So my wedding is in 65 days. So close!! I cannot believe this is happening
I had to travel because of work last weekend to attend a tradeshow. Everything was going great. On Monday I was at the show and I started feeling a little dizzy, like my blood pressure was dropping (I normally have low blood pressure), so I decided to go get a Coke or something that would make me feel better. I turned around to go to the refreshment stand and… bum!, I fainted (I don’t really remember fainting, I just remember waking up on the floor and having a lot of people around me).
I was rushed to the hospital, they ran a bunch of tests (including a pregnancy test), and everything looked normal. They think I was probably dehydrated. I have to get some more tests done, but I feel totally fine now. Except…
Apparently when I fainted I landed on my face, and I am a complete mess. My right cheekbone is completely swollen, black and I have HUGE wounds on my cheeckbone, under my eye, on my forehead, and next to my nose. Apparently I hit the floor quite hard.
Now I’m worried because there was no apparent reason for the fall, but also because of my face! My wedding is so soon and I don’t want to have a scar on my face. I bought this cream (Mederma) which claims to help heal scars.
Any recommendations on how to accelerate the healing process?
Thank you guys! Send me positive thoughts please!

Use Neosporin until they heal, not Maderma! After they heal then you can use Maderma. You also may want to look into prescription strength scar creams from your primary doctor.
I’ve also heard that raw honey can help scars, but I have no experience with it, so I can’t give my own opinion on it.

I broke my nose and fractured my skull and suffered multiple face lacerations last March when I was in a horrible car accident. A month later, no one could tell, all healed very nicely! You will be all healed by the time you wed!

@Follydust321: Thanks! Someone at work told me the same! They are not open wounds though, Apparently, since I fell on a carpet, they’re more like “carpet burn” so I already have scabs. I did an online search and there are opposite oppinions about using Mederma on scabs. I also bought neosporin, so I have both at home.

So sorry to hear that 🙁 I hope you get better soon! And I second the advice to use neosporin on the wounds until they heal. Mederma is for the scar, not the would.

@trueblue14: Aww, sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to know everything turned out ok. I hope my face heals fast!! I would hate to have wedding prictures showing a big ugly scar on my face.

You poor thing!!!! I get dehydrate very easily and faint frequently so I totally understand. When you start feeling “woozy” you need to IMMEADIATELY sit down and put your head between your knees. If you have to randomly sit down on the ground, then do it, it is better than fainting. Don’t go to get drink yourself, ask someone to get it for you. As far as your scars are concerned DO NOT use maderma yet. You need to wait till your wounds have healed. Till then use neosporin and make sure to keep your wounds clean.

@7monthbride: @Mrs.babycat: Thank you ladies! I will change to Neosporin until the scabs fall, and use Mederma later.

Make sure you are getting the proper nutrition too to spead the healing. Maybe take a multi vitamin just to be sure. Praying it was dehydration and nothing more serious.

This happened to me and the drs told me if you ever feel that way again just to lay down wherever you are, bc you need to get oxygen (blood) up towards your brain and it stops the fainting spell from happening. not fun!

Wait until it heals then Mederma, my younger brother had a deep cut in the middle of his forehead and my mom used Mederma on him and it faded you can see it BUT only if you STARE and know its there.

If it’s mainly bruising and carpet burn, I’m sure it will heal find until your wedding day! Our bodies have magical healing powers and 65 is a long time 🙂
Try not to stress about it too much! Also, good nutrition helps my skin so much (I have rosacea). I recommend a green smoothie per day 🙂

@EmmaWatts: I have low blood pressure issues and was feeling this way just the other day. I posted about it here actually. I was dehydrated after being on medicine for a cold for so many days and not drinking enough water or eating enough. I did not actually faint, thank god. I would suggest icing your face a bit to try and help the healing process along. as for any cuts, neosporin is always good to help em heal up faster. also, drink plenty of water and eat as healthy as you can. that always helps my skin and hair and nails to growheal and look better.

My cousin was attacked by a dog when he was a kid. Like…they had to rebuild his face it was so bad. But they used mederma and he healed beautifully. It’s been years, but even shortly after the stiches were out you couldn’t see the scars.
