Oh MsHymanRoth… I commented on another post accusing you (well not really lol) of drinking something like a slimfast shake! *ick*

I’m going to try this tomorrow morning & I’ll report back… mmm. It sounds delicious! I’ve read a bunch of your posts- I think you & I could have been best friends in another life! lol

I like the kind in the big tub you can buy at Sam’s Club! It tastes like vanilla custard, but is lacking in thickness and creaminess. It does the trick though! Yours sounds much fancier though =]

OMG MsHymanRoth… it almost tastes like a Starbucks vanilla bean blended creme (minus the whipped cream). I am eternally grateful!

You’re sooooo my new WB BFF! lol

What is the calorie count?

1.5cups fat free milk (130 calories)
3 tbsp vanilla protein powder (roughly 85 calories)
4 caps of fat free vanilla syrup (roughly 80 empty but delicious calories)

My grand total this morning: 295, 1g fat, 23g protein

I wouldn’t have it every morning, but I will have it when I’m feeling like a blended creme. A lot lower in calories & better for you than one at Starbucks!

Sounds good! I haven’t used protein powder at all (Where do you pick it up? The wellness section in the grocery or do you need to go to GNC?)

We don’t have a blender right now though… so that’s a bummer

Also (Re: Post title) I think that nutrition might fit in well with the wellness or fitness sections

I buy it at Costco… I’m pretty sure it’s available just about everywhere. Walmart & target would have it a little bit cheaper than the grocery store!

You could even make this w/o the protein powder for a nice treat. There is roughly 12-15g of protein in 1 1/2 cups of milk anyway… 🙂

If you use sugar free vanilla you magically drop off those 80 calories.

The protein shake I buy is already vanilla flavored and is only 150 calories per serving. Sometimes I dump in about 100 cal’s of protein powder to make it really last me though.

@MsHymanRoth–I don’t care too much for milk, and soy is only so-so for me, but I recently discovered coconut milk. I know, it sounds crazy tropical. It’s creamy and has the texture of milk, is dairy free, and they make it unsweetened (low cal) and vanilla (insanely good). Definitely try it out. I get it at Whole foods. It’s not cheap, maybe $4.99/carton, but it’s got the slightest sweet coconut hint to it and it’s sooooo good in cereal. I really like it.

I have a strict no artificial sweetener policy in my household. I’m stuck with the additional 80 calories, but that is a good tip for those of you who prefer less calories! Thank goodness its worth it! This shake reminded me so much of a vanilla bean creme that I wanted to add whipped cream to it. lol what!? I work out!!

I have a tool called Bamix- this hand blender is AMAZING. It takes fat free milk & turns it into the same thickness as cream in less than 1 minute. Everyone should have one in their kitchen 🙂

Ooh let’s not forget almond milk… It’s heavenly!

@GaBGal– yay!! I hope someone gets it for you… its more useful than a food processor or even a kitchenaid mixer. There’s a billion uses for it & it’s whipping power is insane! I was warned early on (as I’m prone to accidents) to never, ever touch the blade while the thing is plugged in… even if you’re nowhere near the on button. That thing can "do a foot". *shudder*
