@megz06:  Hugs.  That is all.  I only passed my 1 hour by like 4 points or something but the drink itself made me really, really queasy.  I also broke out in a red, itchy rash all over my neck, cheek, and chest for like 3 hours.  I am going to BEG for a dye-free version or a handful of jellybeans or SOMETHING different this time!

Hang in there, and eat whatever you want later 🙂

@megz06:  Euch.  I’d puke if I ate that much candy :/

@DaneLady:  If you think the dye was the issue, jelly beans might not be the best idea …

I get hives from food coloring, and requested an alternative to the glucola that was as natural as possible. My midwife recommended honey. She said I could either eat it straight or dissolve it in a beverage, such as hot or iced tea. I ended up making an ultra-sweet cup of my favorite green tea (it was a big dose of honey, something like 3 tablespoons to get the required grams of sugar) and pouring it over ice. It was still syrupy and cloying, but at least I was avoiding the artificial color and getting some nutritionally useful compounds from the tea.

@megz06:  Ugh, hope you pass!  I fasted for the 1 hour and failed by 6 points. I passed the 3 hour though. I don’t think there’s any rhyme or reason to it, clearly! I’m sure you will pass! 🙂

@KCKnd2:  Thanks!  I have never before pregnancy or since had any issue with any dyes, but as a rule I tend to avoid soft drinks & candies anyway, so it’s something I hadn’t likely been exposed to while pregnant.

I have even tasted the glucola a few years ago (I work in a lab & I was really curious haha) and it was gross but didn’t break me out.

They did mine iv style so i only got poked once and they could get the blood much easier. I really dont know why more doctors dont do it that way!

I fiund the sugary drink vile, it might have been marginally better if cold but luke warm was horrendous!! I found a clinic thatd do my test at 7.30am so i coild just roll out of bed and do it before i felt mega hungry. Still sucked tho!

Hope you pass!

I totally feel for you.  I failed my 1 hour test by 1 point, I was so annoyed. But I passed the 3 hour so easily. The OB and the lady who took my blood said most people who fail the 1 hour pass the 3 hour.

@megz06:  I’m glad to hear that you survived the test, it truly does sound miserable! Thats exciting that you got to take a sneak peek at the charts, I hope those results mean that you passed. Best of luck to you!!!

@megz06:  Not to squash your hopes, but I was told that failing even one of the draws is a fail for the test. 🙁
