We invited the parents of one of my husband's groomsmen.  This particular groomsman is his childhood best friend, who is now likely going to marry his sister, so they're close friends with his family.

They took a ferry and traveled three hours to attend our wedding.  They came to the ceremony, but after it was over they went to my husband's parents and told them that they decided to go do touristy stuff instead of going to the reception.

I'm totally confused... why bother to come all that way?  And why not at least take the free dinner???  :P

That is really weird! I can't even imagine why they would do that!

That is really weird! We also had a lot of guests travel pretty far and all guests had to take a ferry (to the island). We had one guy, a friend of the groom, who drove all the way, took the ferry and made it to the ceremony but SKIPPED the reception! I was like "uhhh why?" and can I have the $250 for the meal/drinks? haha but I guess he had his reasons...

don't beat yourself up over it! :)

I'd be bothered to by their actions, it seems like your wedding would have taken precidence over touristy stuff.  It's over now though, so try to focus on how awesome your day was and how your a newlywed with your DH!

Maybe they just felt like they didn't know many people and were socially awkward about attending??
