I will be at my 4 month mark next week and it has been smooth sailing. We haven’t been under any stress about anything, everything is booked, most is paid for, and we are ready! I’m a little wrorried because of the amount of people who are on my same timeline and are stressing out to the max. Am I not the norm?? We started as soon as we set a date and have been slowly working on everything. Is this a bad sign??

@FutureBliss: We are getting married a week after you and I feel like things are pretty much under control 🙂 I think I’ll change that ciewpoint further down the road, though! I am ordering invitations tonight (if I can ever decide on some!). If you have advice in that department, I could use it!
I also need to figure out flowers and finish/finalize our centerpieces.
Other than that, I feel super! We went to get tuxes fitted/chosen last weekend, and I pick up my veil tomorrow!
So congrats on being a relaxed bride!

We’re getting married 2 weekends before you, and I feel the same— there’s still work to be done, but we’re cruising right along, and all the “big” stuff is done (venue, dress, caterer, invites, etc etc) and the “little stuff” is manageable.
Judging from the posts on this site, we’re not the norm!!
I think we’ve created our own luck on this one. The Mr and I are paying, so no family drama there; we set an honest and realistic budget which would allow us a really amazing day without taking a second mortgage, and our priorities are pretty well in sync so we have very few debates on what to have/do etc. We kept the wedding party small, so there’s no personality disorders there, just a small circle of friends who already know and love each other. And while I don’t consider 110 people a “small” wedding, it’s not an unwieldy behemoth.
In hindsight, honestly I see why people elope– it is a LOT of money and work– but this really hasn’t been a bad experience. I’m in no hurry to do it again— I’ve got one full-time job already— but I’m pretty happy with how things have developed.

@brookeleshea: We ordered our invitations through our tux place. The ordering went okay, but the process has kind of been a mess. BUT, we have our invitations in our possession so I am not worried about any of it, and they are correct. My mail date for them is July 1st, you?
All my flowers are already picked out and designed with florist. And I am using a decorator to do all my linens and centerpieces, so that is all taken care of as well.
Our tuxes are picked out but no one has been measured yet. And I have not selected a veil yet.
@fishbone: I believe that we have created our own luck too. I have a VERY helpful fiance’ and both of our parents have been awesome. Right now our guest list is at about 325, so I hear ya there. And we each have 8 attendants, so nothing small about our day. But we have really big families, so it was kind of impossible to have a small wedding.
I am definitely a planner and love this stuff though. I could definitely do this for a living. I love it.
Thanks and thanks ladies for making me feel like I’m not alone 🙂

@FutureBliss: I am ordering invitations TONIGHT!!! And I am off for the entire month of June (I am a year round teacher), so our mail dates will be similar.
I had my dress altered and bustled (I get it back in 2 weeks) and my bridal portraits are on June 28th. I need to find shoes and finalize my hair style before then.
I am feeling pretty good… now to make it through the next four months (do you ever feel like it will NEVER come!?) 🙂 And the count down begins!

@brookeleshea: I hear ya!! I am so ready to marry this man. I can’t wait! I just made my first appt for alterations for the beginning of June. I still have some weight to lose before I reach my goal, but I want to get started on alterations. I still have to do hair and shoes as well. Although, I’m pretty sure that I am doing ballet slip ons for shoes cause I’m not taking any chances of anything happening, LOL.
