Prety? Yes but 25,000 sounds like part of the down payment for a home or maybe a new car :)

Can you imagine what the reception is like for someone who has a 25K dress? That would be some party.

Well, it's from Martha Stewart weddings .. "tuxedo inspired" collection ... wonder if anyone actually has purchased it?

To me ... it reminds me of a D&G dress ... recently I saw it in black. Just minus the ruffles on top. Same cut.

Not my style... and totally not worth $25k!

I saw an episode of SYTTD once where the bride's dad bought her a $27k Pnina Tornei gown... it was huge and gawdy and ugly in my opinion, lol!!

I remember that episode of SYTTD.. and the one where the dress was 25,000 and they talked them down to like 13000 and some change. it looks like they threw every single trend ever thought of onto the dress, lace and bling assymetric cut, flowers, ball gown, boobage, oh my!! to each his own, i'd definitely pay my suv off and some of my ginormous stu loans.

Uhm... eh. It's not that great. I showed it to FI and after getting over his shock, he could only say, "That's $25K? What's it made of? Ivory?"

It must be made from the spit of hairless silkworms or something!

But seriously, if someone can afford it and loves it, I say more power to them :) Personally, I was in the <$1000 crew!

The funny thing is that for some reason when I first saw it, it reminded me of the coffee filter dress. Just, not dyed... and not short... but whatev. :p

I actually like the coffee filter dress better. :)

I love this dress, and I know I have seen this style before. Has anyone else seen a similar dress with a more realistic price tag?

I can see why it is $25K. It's probably a couture dress. All those pleats are probably made by hand. And probably took a whole lot of man hours to do. Not to say someone should spend that much. but still.

If i paid that much for a dress, it better be laced with gold and have real diamonds. Sheesh.

...coming from someone who lives and breathes fashion, I can understand why that dress is $25K. Is it my style? NO...would I pay that much?..hmmm..no! I prefer my Oscar de La Renta 100000x more =)

$25,000!?!? For that price it should be made of white-gold thread and dipped in diamonds. That is ridiculous.  I am not into it.

The dress is 25k, because it's a couture type gown. It was hand sewn! Every pleat, every fold was done by hand and stitched probably by hand as well. It might not be your style, but it's a work of art. It's not my style either, but I can appreciate the effort and time that went into crafting it. Giles Mendel has a wonderful eye for dressing woman as well. I've never seen a dress by him that wasn't flattering on whoever was wearing it.

I agree with you, KateMW.  This gown was not designed in the hopes of selling a million dresses.  High-end couture gowns are made to make a statement and showcase a designers ingenuity, talent and technique.  Although this gown is not in my budget, nor can I say I would spend that money on one gown if it were, I get a sense of who the designer is, through his work.  The other draw to high-end gowns, is that they are rare and difficult to obtain (i.e. highly priced).  It adds to their value.  Since I am not shopping for a dress in that price range--they're fun to look at!

I do like the crumbcatcher top...like a fluffy crumbcatcher.

It was definitely made for a celebrity! I've done handsewing...oh man it takes forever. I have seen quite a few Mendel dresses that i looooove, particularly the white one Isla Fisher wore a few months back for her premier. Loved it! Maybe if I made 400K a year I'd be tempted to splurge on a gown.

So i did the math...what I spent on my dress versus what I make in a year. If i wanted to "justify" that dress (based on the ratio of what I spent on mine, which was cheap by the way), I'd have to walk home with 3.75 million dollars a year.

Here's the ring from the Katherine James site and some pretty earrings I spotted! I love them! What a rock!

I do not think I would ever be able to bring myself to spending that type of money...I can think of about a million other things that I would rather spend that on right about now!  LOL....but I agree with above posts the hair is very pretty!
