@Chrysoberyl:  my understanding is that an enhancer is two wedding bands that are connected under the finger, and your engagement ring sits ‘inside’ the two bands before you put it on. my FSIL has an enhancer.

@Chrysoberyl:  oh, it doesn’t. haha. these are definitely not bands that can be worn on their own. i didn’t choose an enhancer for this reason. i think they look pretty, in a way and i love that they keep you e-ring from spinning, but i think they can tend to look matronly (Foot in Mouth) and i don’t like the idea of not being able to wear my band alone.

oh also, i wanted it to be super obvious that i’m married, and i just didn’t feel that the enhancer was obvious/traditional enough for me.

also, my ring is Tacori, so i didnt want to cover up the sides where all the hand-carved laticework is. so, it just wasn’t for me.

I’ve seen two types of enhancers… ones that literally are one band that add additional stones to a solitare (keeping the band plain). My Mom has one she got as an anniversary gift. She wears it with her wedding band and e-ring because this becomes more part of the e-ring and not really a band.

and then there are ones like described above… and what I have.. where the e-ring sits inside the two bands they’re also sometimes called wraps and guards… or at least that’s how I’ve come to learn it.

an enhancer here in scotland is a ring which has 2 bands

and the engagement ring slides in the middle making the bands

sit either side 🙂 hope this helps!!

Technicallly it means a ring with a metal illusion setting to make a smaller center stone look larger.

It’s often misused these days to mean “ring wrap” or “ring guard”

@Chrysoberyl:  ha yea they were the first ones I pulled up on zales. but they’re pretty much everywhere. For your ring I would go for a curved band or something that compliments the curves in yours. idk if i’d go for an enhancer since your ring is so thick already.

also my ‘enhancer’ is connected by two little post things on the bottom. My e-ring just sits inside 🙂
