And of coarse I am going to do more research and speak to my doctor but what kind of birth control can you do while breastfeeding. I can imagine that you are probably not supposed to take the pill while breastfeeding bc you are passing those hormones onto your baby… but I really dont want to do condoms or diaphram. What are your guys plan for birth control after the baby is born?

You can use any that are non-hormonal or progesterone-only. I am planning to get a Mirena out in at my 6 week appointment. It’s a very low dose of progesterone, no estrogen, so it’s safe for BFing mamas.

@zippylef: I got the Mirena with my first child he is now 3 and we are trying for baby #2 but I had alot of issues with it so it was removed less then a year later 🙁 boooo but it is a great method if you don’t have complications.

Anything without estrogen (the mini-pill/POP, mirena IUD, depo-provera shot), any barrier method (condoms, diaphragm, cervical cap/sponge), the copper IUD (Paraguard), and/or spermicide.

@marrymetiffany Do you mind me asking what complications you had with Mirena?
