Ok so we have a 14 month Labradoodle who is 85 Lbs. He is an amazing dog and we love him and spoil him however he is pretty well bhaved, just gets exvited too much sometimes and likes to say hi on face level.
We used to crate him during the day, but at his 1 year mark we’ve decided to let him roam around the house and all has been ok in most part. He has no accidents or anything, just sometimes grabs a shoe fromt he closet.
Once a week I have been taking him to a doggy day care so that he has play time while I work. Now it’s not that my dog doesn’t get excercise elsewhere. I take him to doggy parks twice a week and jog in the morning plus gets walks and a big walk in the evening. He is also running around in backyard if he wants to.
Well so this morning i took him to day care. He edidn’t poo on his walk and also didn’t eat breakfast yet which I specified to the owner upon dropping our dog off.
Well, aprox 40 minutes after while I am at work, I got a text message and it went like this:
OWNER – there is no polite way to say this but your dog shit everywhere and it’s abvously not his fault but yours. He is now locked in the crate and not allowed to play ith other dogs. This is becoming a habbit and next time it happens we will have to charge you additional 10$ or call you to pick him up!
ME – Thank you, i will leave work and will pick him up shortly.
OWNER – I meant that this will be the procedure moving forward.
ME – Thank you, however I will still pick him up.
When i got there, the dude seamed irritable. I just walked in and got the leash and put it on my dog and walked out. The guy followed me outside to say that it was like a slap in the face and asked how would i feel if one of my coworkers destroyed my desk in the morning. Later in the conversation it turned out that he left the door open for the dog to go outside and my dog just i guess couldn’t make it and did it by the door. Definitelly an exaggeration on owners part who said the dog shit everywhere. I have told him that I did what i could as i walked him and tried feeding him but he didn’t.
Anyways i took him home and went to work. As i get to work i get an appologetic (kinda) message of the dude explaining himself (kinda) saying things like: How would you feel if i brought my dog to your house and he pooped inside 5 times in a row….. To please understand their (his) frustration… that maybe i should take the dog for a walk after the car ride but before entering…and ofcourse that they hope to see us again.
I liked my dog going there because he actually had a fun day of playing with dogs. except I didn’t like that my dog smelled and was all grayish looking after, completelly tired out for two days, got few nicks and cuts and even once his paw pads were a bit ripped. The only reason I did was becasue i got 15 days of doggy day care at a special promotion and paid 4$ per day when a regular price was 35$ per day. This was his 14th visit there and I was considering to bring him there every other week for a day at a regular price but now i don’t even wanna go back there for the 15th day either.
I think the dude is in the wrong business if a dog pooing inside his doggy day care (it’s not like it’s a house and it’s not like he has carpet there) get’s so frustrated. It’s what dogs do! It’s like if was cleaning pools and got wet at it. Geez!!
Ruined my day!
