I posted this thread last month about going to stay at a beautiful castle B&B with SO. Well, this is the weekend, and I won’t lie, I’m letting myself get my hopes up just a little bit! Here’s why.
SO and I went ring shopping about five months ago and he found a ring at a jewelry store at the mall. I honestly didn’t like it when I first saw it, but he wanted me to put it on anyway. Well, I did, and I fell in LOVE! It’s perfect — unique and absolutely beautiful. Here it is again, just because I love looking at the sparkly thing 🙂
So now, whenever I go to the mall, I stop by and check out my ring. It’s gotten to the point where the day manager recognizes me and knows that I want to see it and put it on again, haha! And she’s more than happy to accommodate me. They have such great service there 🙂
I was at the mall in mid-December and my ring was there. I hadn’t been back since that trip. Then, a few days ago, SO wanted to go to the mall to get a massage. He suggested we visit my sparkly as well, since he knows I like to see it. Well, we got to the mall and he went off to have his massage. I stopped by the jewelry store, and the ring was GONE! The salesgirl said it had been sold recently. I was totally bummed. I mean, I know it’s still available online from their store, but I liked having the physical ring to put on and admire, you know?
About 20 minutes go by and I suddenly think, “Oh, my gosh, what if HE bought it?!” The timing would be perfect. We have this romantic weekend coming up, he’s already alluded to a possible proposal at some point this weekend, and now the ring I love has been purchased. Sounds like good reasons to be optimistic!
When he finished his massage, he came and found me (I was sitting on a bench reading) and asked if I was ready to see my sparkly. I told him I had already been there and he got a bummed look on his face, like, “Oh, but I wanted to go with you!” I found that weird, because normally, he kind of rolls his eyes at my sparkly-visits and asks me to make it quick, haha. I started wondering if he wanted to come with me so he could see my reaction when I realized the ring was gone. Then, just to see his reaction, I went ahead and told him that my ring had been sold. I put on a sad face and acted very upset that it had been sold before he could purchase it. He was sympathetic, but there was something off about how he was acting. SO rarely conceals things from me, so it’s kind of easy for me to tell when he’s trying to be secretive. There was just something odd about how he reacted to the situation that makes me think he knows EXACTLY who bought the ring!
I might be reading too much into it, but I am allowing myself just a little bit of hope and optimism. We’re going to have a wonderful, romantic weekend regardless of whether we get engaged or not, but a proposal would really be the icing on the cake!
Wish me luck, bees! I hope I have good news for you on Monday! 😀
