- Wedding: September 2013 - B&B
I LOVE bridal reality shows like SYTTD and Bridezillas and Four Weddings. And of course, like most girls do, I made copious mental notes. It’s the perfect scenario for you to be like “when I get married, I WONT/WILL do this” without rubbing feathers the wrong way or making anyone bonkers 🙂 And of course, we keep these little lists to ourselves, confident in our choices and knowing nothing will change our courses….
First of all, I love my mom, and I am super thankful for her support. We have a great, open relationship. We also like alot of the same things, even when it comes to weddings! And she will be paying for about half. I always thought “Oh my mom will never be crazy or momzilla. This will be a breeze to plan with her!”
Errrrrr…. mostly. Haha!
My mama is an analyst, so naturally, she’s already planned our wedding down to the details, including making a spreadsheet of DIY projects, responsibilities, and programs. Not just for the ceremony, programs of the whole weekends festivities for the people most involved. WHOA NELLY. She also has some very serious opinions, especially about the food and beverages/bar. And she’s quite stuck on peacock feather bouts. Now, my theme is sunset ceremony and Starry Night reception… so not realllllly sure if peacock bouts fit in… but she’s so excited (and I don’t have a better idea, they look pretty cool) so Im totally letting her take the reins on it. But yeesh I think I’m in for some (loving) battles lol.
Next one: “I’ll never take a bunch of people dress shopping with me, just two or three at a time, it never works out well for the brides with big groups on SYTTD”
My first dress appointment was me and my mom. Lovely, but we didn’t find anything that excited us or made us emotional. Second dress appointment was me and my Maid/Matron of Honor, but again, nothing that really made us squeal and get excited. My third appointment is going to be this saturday, and originally it was me and just one other girl, a bridesmaid. Then, mom asks if she and my grandma can tag along. I thought, well, I would like Muffy to get a chance to see… and I have a good feeling about this store and it’d be great to have mom there! So they are coming. Then… I get along great with my Future Mother-In-Law too.. and she only lives 40 mins from the shop… so really, it would be not nice to leave her out. And if I invite her, then really I should invite Future Sister-In-Law because I want to ask her to be a bm too, and I don’t want HER feeling left out… From one guest to five! (and possibly a best guy friend?!)
Oye. Sunnyday278, eat your words!!!!
What did you swear you’d never do and then turned right around and did?
