i’m not married yet, but i will be taking his name as my last and keeping my first and middle the same as always.

i had thought about hyphenating because i love my last name… but i am very traditional and i feel almost like it’s disrespecting my Fiance to do anything less than getting rid of my maiden name altogether.

I’m planning on keeping my middle name and dropping my maiden and taking his last. I like my last name, but I LOVE his last name, so it works out.

My name was too long to hyphenate – and I didnt like the way it sounded as: first maiden newlast. So I dropped my maiden all together.

I am the last person in my family with my last name (besides my father and my grandmother, so I suppose “last of a generation”), so you couldn’t pay me to totally get rid ot it! I’m using it as my new middle name- it’s unique (only exists within my family as my grandfather changed it when he moved to the US!) and it’s been a part of me forever. I love it. But I also want my FI’s last name and look forward to taking it. Best of both worlds!

Hypenating for our two last names doesn’t really work, either. I’d like to drop my middle name and use my maiden as a middle name, but the naming tradition in my family means that my middle name is my mom’s first name – and my parents would probably be more hurt if I dropped her name than kept my maiden somewhere in there!

I * abhor* my last name so I will be getting rid of that shit asap!  I also am in love with my middle name because it’s my mom’s maiden name and my BFF-cousin’s last name, so I’m happily keeping that.

I dropped my maiden name and kept the two names my parents chose for me, then added my new last name.

Im moving my last name to my middle name, but not eliminating my current middle name. So technically it will be [FIRST] [MIDDLE MAIDEN] [HIS LAST NAME]. But for everyday purposes, I will just be [FIRST] [MAIDEN] [HIS LAST].

First Middle Newlast….i’ve been waiting for a shorter surname!! The current 8 letter surname will be given the boot altogether!!!
