Okay, so I have oily skin. It’s gross. My face is literally in oil slick in like 2 hours and I am constantly blotting it. I blot like 4 times a day.
What foundation/primer do you use? I need something soon because I am going somewhere where blotting at all will be pretty embarrassing. I’ve tried the Monistat anti-chaffing lotion before as a primer and it barely did a thing. Right now I do this when I put on makeup:
Step 1: Cosmedicine Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion
(Wait 10 minutes to set)
Step 2: Smashbox Photofinish Primer Light
(Wait 10 minutes to set)
Step 3: Dream Mousse Matte
And uuughh.. I get three hours out of that combination before I have to blot. Is there anything better!?

I think the dream mousse might be your problem. I cannot wear liquid foundation even though it does give better coverage. Have you tried powders? I use Bare Minerals.

I never tried powders except a long time ago at a drug store. I looked like I had powder all over my face, kind of like a bag of flour exploded on me. Does Bare Minerals look better?

I use Bare Escentuals after applying a primer. I still need to powder my nose a few times a day, but its much better than using a liquid foundation.

I really like Bare Minerals. I think Bare Escentuals is sort of the same. It definitely doesn’t give that super-powdery look. The starter kit comes with application brushes which are helpful too. You can either do a light dusting, or full concealer-type coverage depending on the brush and amount of powder you use.

I used Smashbox primer (the green one to cut back on redness.)
Also, brush your face with a translucent powder.

I really like Bare Minerals on the days i don’t want to do “full” make up
I still use the Monistat as my primer (b/c I refuse to spend more $$ on a product with the same ingredients like Smashbox primer)
Then: I use Smashbox High Definition Concealer to “spot” cover (under my eyes and any other places I need it…. I break out alot)
And Then use the Bare Minerals Foundation Powder
With the Warmth on my cheeks and the bridge of my nose.
If you get a good finishing “setting” powder like
MakeUp Forever HD MicroFinish Powder you should be good.
Even if I sweat it holds my make up REALLY well and I don’t usually need any touch ups
I have combo skin but this seems to work really well for my “dry” nose & oily forehead & chin

Thanks everyone! Looking into Bare Minerals now… and the HD MicroFinish Powder.

Este Lauder is pretty fabulous.

I use to be an oil slick within a hour of putting on my makeup no matter what type of primer I would put on.
But then I discovered Coastal Scents HD Powder. Oil slick gone…

That sounds like a lot on your face! I have bad oily skin and always have. I use Bare Minerals everything. If I put the foundation on and then a couple light layers of their concealer called bisque on my nose, I can go just about all day without blotting.

This is seriously helpful ladies! I have the worst oily skin and I feel so gross sometimes. Thanks for the suggestions.

Estee Lauder double wear…best stuff ever! I’ve also heard that milk of magnesia is good to use as a primer before makeup. Supposedly it really controls oil. I’ve never tried it personally though.

I use Diorskin nude. It works well, I do have to blot once in a while but it seems to stay put all day. It does not make me look like I have just covered my face in Vaseline either! Oh and no primer is needed for the Diorskin nude.. Well at least for me, I am too cheap to by primer, but I don’t really think its needed for this foundation.

I use the sephora brand mineral makeup. the color has become a bit wonky for me, as I have gotten paler from lack of sun, but it lasts.
I also had been using a sample of a laura geller product called welcome matte skin enhancer. the tube says it is an oil and shine absorber and pore minimizer. I really liked it! Cliniique also makes something similar that I have tried and liked.
usually, i put on that, then concealer where needed, then mineral powder. works like a charm.
