- Wedding: September 2011
Okay, so I admit, I’ve been *that* bride that orders every blue shoe in sight in an effort to find the perfect shoe. I’m also the bride that has officially tried on more shoes than I did dresses. I think I’ve exhausted all choices within my budget, and thought I would never find a pair of shoes that touch my heart quite like the Manolo Blahnik Clausado d’orsays that I fell in love with (but can’t afford…rather, don’t want to afford).
Enter Bloomingdales and Kate Spade and the new spring collection! In a slow play by play account, I was sitting around on a late night perusing all the possible department store and online shoe websites, when I got to Bloomingdales.com. I hit “special occassion shoes”, and at the top there’s a big giant ad that covers almost most of the visible screen. But, underneath the ad, I saw the top part of what appeared to be a cobalt blue shoe. Not navy, not light blue, not seafoam, COBALT.
Oh man, was I EXCITED. At that moment, I’m thinking to myself, I’m going to scroll down and the heel is going to be a kitten heel (I’m a 5’1 bride that lives in 3″ heels and was on the hunt for 3″ or higher heels), or something tacky is going to be on the front of the shoe that I don’t like. Nothing is ever meant to be like that.
So I scroll down, and what do I see?
Beautiful Cobalt Kate Spade Karmen, 3 1/2 inch heel, stunning rosette!!! I was so excited that I was beyond words. My sister, who was home for spring break, looked over my shoulder and said THOSE ARE THE ONES. GET THOSE! My sister, 8 years younger than me, who is all about saving money and not wasting it on self indulgent purchases, was saying these words to me!
So, at $325, I went on the hunt for coupon codes for bloomingdales. Lucky enough to find a 20% off family and friends discount going on at the time. So, after all the hoopla, I cut the cost of those shoes down to $280. Still a lot of money, but more than 50% less than the Manolos I was swooning over. I will take that!
They are a special order, and not shipping until 4/22, so I was hesitant to post (as not to jinx it!), but I just saw my size get taken off the list of available sizes, so I assume there is hope. 🙂
Thanks everyone for hanging in there with me, while I hunted for my dream shoes!
